Depends how far they go compared to Belgium etc. Lukaku has to be in with a shout?

Of course he is lol, case in point:

Nowhere to be seen. Why? Because he’s a receiver.

Again there’s nothing wrong with it, no one ever slags of the likes of Lineker, Van Nisteroy etc. But it’s annoying when people make out he’s a one man band when the reality is that he very much relies on his team.
"Pre Assists" rofl what utter bks.

Surely the most important pass is the pre pre-assist?

I find it funny how it's somehow "bad" he's a poacher, or seemingly not as good laugh he is, without doubt, one of the greatest of all time. Better then Messi? Not sure, who cares. The face they're so often compared indicates there isn't much between them.

What a player. Incredible. I still don't think penalties should count towards the golden boot, but alas.

Surely winning the tackle that led to the pre pre-assist is more important. Soon be giving someone an award for kicking off, ffs!

Me neither. I've always thought that penalties should be kept independent of the count for goals scored as it artificially inflates them.

Half the goals Harry Kane scored last World Cup to win Golden Boot was penalties and not from open play. Bit of a joke really.

Because no one ever misses a penalty rofl

What about 2 yard tap-ins? Or deflections? Or when the defender falls over? Or goals that shouldn't have been given due to referee errors? Or just st goal keeping letting in easy shots?

Yep. Penalties are a skill, and an important one. Every England fan should know that.

And of course often the person fouled is in a good position and ultimately takes the penalty - quite a few of Kane's are like that.

Back to Ronaldo ... he'd still get into any team in the Euros. Not sure he'd make it into a Best 11 of the tournament ... wait and see I guess.

He can produce a couple of moments that turn games. His second was superb.

Missing is a possibility of course but when the same player grabs the ball to take every penalty it will somewhat help with inflating their goal tally.

Like when the same player hangs around the goal having shots, rather than marking the oppos forwards or grafting in midfield? I mean Ronaldo is always going to score more goals than Pepe if he's always goal hanging.... that's bound to inflate his goal tally...

Grown men fighting over other grown men! They'll both be retired or semi-retired (Germany or USA) soon - who will you hand your knitted hankies on then?

Two of the greatest footballers of any era but I just can't grasp how anyone can think CR is the better overall footballer.
If it wasn't for all the media hype Messi wouldn't be in the running for anything

There is a massive difference between Messi and Ronaldo, Ronaldo has so much class about him, he makes it look so simple, have never seen another footballer that can kick a ball in such a way that it looks like it's going to travel a full circle

Yes, of course Messi is a good footballer but he hasn't the class, style and skills of a great player like Ronaldo

The media definitely do influence peoples judgement

Messi managed to drag an Argentina team which was way worse than this current Portugal team to extra time in a World Cup final against a far stronger Germany team compared to their current squad.

Ronaldo could never.

Ronald definitely on peds of some sort, I can’t find the article but he has been down to about 7% body fat at times. That’s not possible naturally. Cue the posts about modern ‘training & diet’. I always wonder about that goal where he jumped suspiciously high. Not only do steroids increase muscle mass/strength they also increase the ability of the nervous system to recruit muscle fibre, ie ‘explosiveness’. Not many people realise that aspect. Oh and they also block the effect of cortisol so can aid stamina.

Yes it is, because I'm under 7% (measured in a lab). I'm only 5ft 6in but weigh 53kgs as a hill-climbing cyclist and runner.

I eat a whole foods diet, I eat no artificial or man made crap, loads of fruit and veg in my diet (approx 10-15 portions/day). Saying someone's on PEDs because of their body fat is absurd. It absolutely can be done.

It’s very low for a footballer. Average maybe 10-11%. What can’t be done is to naturally hold a very low body fat and build/retain the same amount of muscle as you would at a higher body fat.

Based on what?

Ronaldo has a great physique. But it isn’t anything different to many others.
