The Official Arsenal - 14 x FA Cup winners thread - Vol 4

People - I'm not happy with the last 2 games but it is a marathon and not a sprint, we have got to give Emery time to turn things around.
The board and his fans gave Wenger 2 to 4 years more than he should of got and left us with players that can't produce week in week out and a reminder the last time Wenger beat Man City at home was 2015/16 and Chelsea away was 2011/12.

One thing i am glad about is that we've had two hard opening games and are under no illusions of the task that Emery & co are facing. At least we didn't start with "lesser" opposition and have 6 points and be thinking that all is great. It'll take 3 or 4 transfer windows to sort for sure - it took Pep 3 and that is with £Bs to spend. I think he's spent £155M on 3 full backs.

Indeed. We'll have a more realistic idea of where we really are by mid/end of October, and where everyone one else is relative to that.
We've got a run of supposedly 'easier' games coming up. Might give him a bit more freedom to tinker and get things right.
I've no doubt we'd have lost these two games with Wenger in charge, the question really is by how many goals.
We had some brief glimpses of looking very good and exciting going forward on Saturday. I'm hoping that's a sign of things to come. We had so many games in the last couple of seasons where we looked clueless in midfield and couldn't create chances. On a different day we'd have taken those missed chances and ground out a win despite the lack of possession.
Gendouzi looks a great prospect. Does not look out of place in the first team. Can really pick a pass and seems to give a st which is great. .
I like the fact Emery's got the balls to hook anyone under performing. That can only raise standards and keep people on their toes.
2 losses but some positives too.

He does look quality. Someone posted a vid on Twitter showing him pounding the ground in frustration after PEA blasted over the bar. He’s got a bit of attitude...which I think is great. Fell out with the manager when he was playing in France apparently. .

No subtitles for the bloke from Spitzerland. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11477...
I'm not a fan of GN but I see some sense it what he's saying.
There's no way Arsenal will build a dream team buying money-no-object players, so we'll always be in the shadow of those that do. That said, if it means we develop players who want to do well and play for the club, I'll take that over fantasy league football.

I think they're both right. Sure, if you have a bottomless pit of money to go and buy all the players that are perfect for your system (see: Pep) then you can religiously stick to your guns. However, Klopp has made tweaks to his system based on the players available to him at the time.
I don't think Emery needs to abandon particular covenants of his system, but I think there are some slight tweaks he could make, like not playing a suicidal high line against City!

Shouldn't he be changing the play out from the back and high defence line system when he hasn't got the quality in the team to do this against Man City or Chelsea? Go back to this system when your playing less quality teams by all means but doing against these two was suicidal.
Iwobi's goal against Chelsea proves we can do it - something like 18 passes and 10 men involved. It's going to take time to polish off the rough edges of the system. Admittedly playing a high line against teams with the pace and firepower of City is asking for it, but let's give him time. The general feedback from the players is that his training sessions are excellent, so fingers crossed.

Neville answers you point...you have to stick with the system otherwise the players won’t believe in it or you. I think he’s just trying to find what we’ve gt that can play that system....although you would fking hope that they’d thought Sokratis had it in him.
The way we created chances against Chelsea is something Arsenal haven’t done for years away against a Top 6 side.
I don’t think we’ll really know what’s what until Xmas at the earliest...and then it’s going to take a while to eject the players wh don’t fit.
You need to get Ozil out of your club ASAP, the bloke is an absolute fraud.
Either he...
(a) Found out he wasn't playing today at training yesterday and stormed off in a strop
or
(b) Has a fking cold
Either way, get rid. 300k a week for a lazy, arrogant, st that couldn't give a monkeys about the club. One of the most over rated players in the PL.
