With regards to doing deals in Jan, it really depends on the circumstances. None of the big clubs did any deals last year in Jan. This year the transfer of Sanchez has set off a chain of other transfers. Even then, only players that clubs have wanted to offload have moved.
Coutinho?? we did not 'want' to sell him, we were forced to sell him I know Klopp has said Coutinho had refused to play again, but if the higher ups at LFC had decided we wanted to keep him, we would have.

So it seems like Sanchex/Mkhitarayan is pretty much a done deal and the latter is going to be reunited with Aubameyang. We've heard for years that you can't get deals done in January but obviously you can. Regardless of where you are on Sanchez leaving at least things are being done to replace him (only if they're reactive).
I suspect if our new Chief Scout and the new "Director Of Football" who is about to join weren't part of the club these deals wouldn't have been done.
If you think these deals were necessary to get Ozil to sign a contract (which I am sure they are) they're actually pretty good value vs Ozil leaving on a free in the summer. Clutching at straws I know....
Still regardless of who is up top it won't stop us conceeding soft/st goals like the two we did against Bournemouth.
I'm convinced this is Wenger's last season as for years he's been 100% against a Director of Football so I very much doubt the new guy from Barcelona would be joining unless he knew Wenger was going.
The bit in bold is the most important thing for me and it prevents me getting really excited. I suspect if our new Chief Scout and the new "Director Of Football" who is about to join weren't part of the club these deals wouldn't have been done.

Aubameyang and Mkhitarayan are great players and they may even tempt Ozil to sign a new contract, the rumour was that he wanted to stay as long as there was some investment in the squad.
However, that said, what Arsenal really need is a good defensive midfielder and a couple of good defenders. Apparently this Greek kid is the real deal and won't be going out on loan after all. Wenger might even play him in the first team soon. If we can get even someone like N'zonzi (and I think that deal is dead) I'd be feeling a lot better about this window.

Can you elaborate!? hes been dire since we signed him.
Playing behind a back three / four without any semblance of organisation for 90% of the time makes it difficult for any goalkeeper to really excel. Cech however has proven his class repeatedly. Given the belief that AW is leaving in the summer and there isn't a DoF in place, it seems odd to allow AW to spend a shed load of cash now on players that a new manager may not want. Or is it simply indicative of the current malaise at the club?
I don't believe these are AW signings. if they happen...the Greek chap wasn't for sure. See AW's petulant comments about Sven.
I think its Sven and Raul (advance work as hes not officially started yet) pulling some strings, and hopefully a sign that AW is losing power and that Gazidis is finally forcing him out by undermining him. Its the only way he will leave i think. He wont be sacked, he doesn't care about fans opinion or protests, but if his absolute unquestioned power is being eroded internally he wont like it.

we know Pep wanted to come here.
No we don't......No way would he go to a club that has an owner like we do, he's not that stupid.
After City, he'll either go to Italy to add Serie A to his La Liga, Bundesliga and likely PL trophies or take another rest and eventually manage Spain so he can add, European Champ and World Cup to his CV.

whats actually wrong with the owner apart from allowing the club to drift under AW and letting him run it as his own fiefdom? He hasn't withheld money, he hasn't actually taken much out in his 'consultancy fees' compared with other owners
yes hes massively culpable for letting AW have no on pitch accountability, and being happy with us drifting, and i would much prefer usmanov, just so we can join in the new age of what football has become, but hes given AW plenty of tools to do the job properly. Wage bill just a few million less than the biggest spenders. willingness to spend big. just because AW doesnt use those tools isnt kroenkes fauklt...well it is as he should sack him...!

No Aubamayeng for BD tonight..not sure if injured or left out the squad ?
See below for my previous post earlier this morning.....Zorc added that Aubameyang would miss the Friday's game because "he is not fully focused and the question arises whether he can help us in Berlin."
Aubameyang has been suspended twice for disciplinary reasons this season.
He missed Sunday's 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg after he failed to attend a team meeting.

They’ve hired a DoF from Barcelona he starts next month so is presumably on gardening leave. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/nov/28/a...
That’s my whole point....would you take that job knowing Wenger is totally anti your job if he wasn’t leaving ?
What saddens me about Sanchez is that he gave 110% whenever he played (sometimes a bit *too* much). He won over a huge number of fans and then thinks nothing of signing for Manyoo. This may well be a reflection on the way Arsenal is being managed but the lucrative contract making him one of the highest earners in this part of the world is there for all to see.
Football.
Football.

Bit harsh on a player who was brutally betrayed publically by a succession of England mangers(amazed his confidence isn't shredded to pieces) .Got slagged off for big wages - i don't recall TW holding gun to Arsenal's head.In fact he wanted to leave , and Arsenal gave him wage increase and then decided generally not to play him.Wenger effed him about and wasted TW time and Arsenal's money.
Maybe so. I'll credit him for his 100 goals for Arsenal but overall, he's not very good.Apparently when Wenger was told Theo Walcoott was leaving for Everton , he replied "Who he ?"

Good luck to him....the likfe of Walcott, Gibbs and Le Coq all left the club well IMHO....unlike a few others. Reckon he'll get a good welcom when Everton come to The Emirates in a few weeks.
