That was truly dreadful.....so so bad. If Deeney hadn’t got sent off I think we’d have easily lost that. Still three points is three points.
As many on various sites have been saying, if we play like this against Napoli then we're done for, they'll win 3/4-0 easy. I'd even go so far as to say the better team lost today, we were that lucky. I like Deeney. He's been right when he pointed out our flaws in the past, even if it sucked to hear it coming from a player in a 'lower' club. This season he's fitter, stronger and seems to really want it. I'll be cheering for them against City in the FA Cup Final.
No idea how it's going to go on Thursday, I don't want to think about it. We should win the game after that against Palace, we're at home. We should win in the second to last game of the season against Brighton too. But Wolves, Burnley and Leicester? If we don't find a way of winning away (that doesn't involve luck or someone getting sent off), we're in big big trouble.
what a woeful display...shouldn't single out any 1 individual, but I truly don't understand Iwobi. He has the odd moment where he looks the part, then gets into a good area and seems devoid of ideas, gets caught on his heels often, and his tackling back is awful. Mikha on the other side of the pitch is equally abysmal, but i really thought that Iwobi would flourish with a fresh manager. Clearly not.
Makes me cringe when the pundits reckon that it could take 4-5 transfer windows to get the team that the Manager wants. Logic says that'll never happen...Koscielny is on his last legs,Mustafi is a walking liability, there's no real long term cover for Bellerin or Monreal, they need a midfielder to replace Ramsey and 2 wide men that can score goals. Hell by the time they bring in a few others will no doubt be on their bikes and out of the door to fresh pastures.
The 3rd highest scorer has 6 goals - if we had a couple of wide players with ability i fancy that even with the iffy defence we'd have picked up another 2-4 wins, and wouldn't be scrambling/hoping for a top 4.
waiting for the summer window with a wry smile to see who we're linked with and who we don't buy!

Given they still haven't appointed a new Director of Football, and the world and his dog have been linked to that role, with none of them taking the job, I wouldn't hold my breath on there being any decent summer transfer activity cbmotorsport said:
Dire display frankly. So fortunate to come away with 3 points. Deeney didn't deserve to go imho.
It's going to be squeaky bum time with our remaining away games, we need to find a bit of scoring form away from home, we won't get much more luck than we did last night.
I watched the post match on Sky. Deeney made a deliberate moved to raise his arm/elbow to give let Torreira know he was in a game...the giveaway that is is totally deliberate is that he changes his stride as he does it....watch the replay again and see how his right leg stride changes as he lifts the elbow. 100% deliberate that he raise his elbow so 100% a red card. The thing that probably did for him is that Torreira is a good 6 inches shorter than most players...if he’s done that to Xhaka it wouldn’t have even been a yellow. I wouldn't agree with that, Maitland-Niles has looked very good in recent games and even saved us last night, I would pick him ahead of a fit Bellerin at the moment when we have a back three.Lots of doom
and gloom in here, we knew it would be a rocky road to get even 5th this season. Yet here we are, knocking on 3rd with a clean sheet, three points and a run-in fixture list that gives us a chance of over taking the Hotspuds as a final Foxtrot Oscar in the last game of the season.
I think it’s more the manner in which we’re achieving it, we are the only team i know that can make hard work of playing against 10 men. We still have no idea how to close a game out effectively. We were putting ourselves in a position where Watford could break against us innumerable times last night, there was simply no need to do that with a man and a goal up. For all Emery’s work he still hasn’t improved that gung-ho side of our game.

If Iwobi and Micky had their shooting boots on they could have made it a long evening for Watford. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
