No other analysis is proffered therefore you can only logically surmise that the chattering classes are apportioning the majority of the blame at one factor and that by simply educating everyone in one lumpen mass (be they RC, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Jedi) Sectarianism will disappear in all walks of life
It would be the most obvious place to start. Segregating children on the basis of their parents belief in different sky fairies is fking moronic. And that goes for all of them.
Why was it necessary in the first place?

Schools were provided by The Kirk and Wee Free. Catholicism wasn't given equal status and the kids were discriminated against, hence Catholic schools being set-up. Because they were outside the School Board system, they only received less than half the funding of board schools. The purpose of th 1918 Act was to rectify the funding imbalance.

Correct,it was more aimed at Techno’s “moronic” comment?

I thought Big Eck had managed to ride through the storm. Why take so long to make this decision?

Did they wait to see who else would step in first?

I think the delay is because it was the next SFA board meeting - they seem to work in some sort of geological calendar.
Hard to think of an obvious candidate, at least that would be interested.
Mind you there will be someone out there that will take the most poisoned chalice for the fat salary.

Maybe - although he's said he's looking for a club. Mind you it would have the benefit of taking him out of the running for the Celtic job (speaking as a hoops fan...).

I'd like Stevie Clarke, but they'll go for some out of work (for a reason) duffer or give it to Scott Gemmill so they don't have to pay compensation.

Whatever he goes, please let it not be Celtic, we have additional important history to make

Nobody said bigotry is taught, let alone exclusively, in Catholic schools. I presume you didn’t go to one so have no personal experience in the matter.
I presume the sarcasm smiley I posted failed to render on your PC wink

When the spectre of sectarianism rears it's ugly head the defult cry is close the Catholic schools, with not thoughts to the whys, where's and hows

You also presume incorrectly re my education

I had friends on ALL sides of the community from nursery all the way through to University despite attending a "bigot factory" (BTW I'm not indicating that is your mindset, however it's a well known slur)

I was best man at my Protestant mates wedding and as a kicker he supported Celtic as GIRFUY to his dad (and his extended family) because he had a bad split with his mum back in the day

Bigotry IMHO is taught in the home not in the classroom, even back in the 80's RE was a one hour a week lesson which your parents could opt you out off if they so wished

Most RC & Non-Dom schools existed side by side with as much hostility between yourself and your own classmates
Kids are kids, they can hate you for wearing the wrong gutties

Celtic & Rangers caused more aggro than Catholics & Protestants in my experience

As an aside you don't need to be RC to attend a RC School

They also tend to outperform their counterparts educationally
Sorry, I wasn’t talking about you going to a catholic school. I presume you didn’t go to any school for a significant period of time because comprehension skills are evidently absent from most of your posts.

Ignoring the case of the pot calling the kettle black, maybe if you actually posted in a clear, precise and coherent manner instead of posting in an ambiguous one then maybe the simple point you're trying (and failing) to make would be more succesful

That and trying to post more than one line replies (and actually pad out your searing insights)

Oh and trying to improve your "patter" might aid you on your communication quest

i don’t know if mcleish was/ is the right man for the job, but I really hope the sfa have a plan for his replacement. I don’t actually know who I would choose (that’s available/ a real possibility) over mcleish?

But I think they’ve probably punted him and now just going to phone the same few names about the job and start the process all over again. a couple of poor results and we’ll be having the same conversation.

i think it’s about time that someone in the sfa realises that our current performances are reflective of our level/ position in world football. we are not the world beaters we once were. when digging through stuff at my grand parents house and i found a programme for scotland v spain in 1984, look at the list of players and the clubs........ our current squad are not even close to being in the same level as they used to be. that is why we are putting in terrible performances

Is the Scotland job that bad that they (a) can't even get the Northern Ireland manager, and (b) have to resort to McLeish?

Happy that Eck is getting another shot at the job, I was gutted when he left last time.
Scraping the bottom of a very deep barrel!
I'll happily stick my neck out here and say that he'll have us qualifying for the Euro's. He's the best we've had since Craig Brown.
I hope you're right, but I just can't see it.

He did well during the 2008 qualification campaign, but the world has moved on now.

Sorry, I'm confused. Do you want to live in the past or not?

I keep being told Scotland is or should be forward thinking and outward looking. Now we're harking back to a century ago? But only when it suits, obviously.

The main problem with Scottish Football is the Scottish Football Association.
