A few reports kicking about that WHU will stand by Pelle (no surprise) but also club insiders saying that the defensive unit have absolutely no confidence in Roberto - doesn't sound at all good if there is a load of dissent among the ranks. Certainly explains why we suddenly wouldnt be able to beat a div 2 club.

The only "defensive unit" at WH is Karen Brady.

Couldn't do that back in Sept @ Oxford!

Lanzini apparently not back until New Year.

We all saw it coming though.

-Wilshere and Sanchez no where near fit/good enough for this division - but that has been obvious for a while now.
-Full backs totally out of their depth. Bizarre decision to give Cress/Matsuaku both contracts, is this the best we have to look forwards to in that position?
-Diop needs a mature dependable centre back (someone like a Dunk) and we don't have that.
-No cover for a fading Noble

Anderson/Yarmo/Haller etc. can all perform but if we are getting hammered in midfield and shipping savable goals each game then their performance will falter and ultimately stall as we have seen.

Fornals just isnt going to settle into a struggling team, too lightweight for central midfield that needs some steel.

It really has turned into a mess - I am more concerned about reports that Pelle thought Roberto would be a better option than Fabianski? That they think signing Sanchez and Wilshere would be good options? It does smack of desperate cheap signings - money wasted in the wrong places.

A slight build on it...

Club announces investment in players
I get my hopes up
Club gets in free transfers and past it players not fit for purpose
I'm disappointed
Club suddenly makes a big transfer
I get my hopes up
Key players get 3-6 month injuries within a few weeks of the season starting whilst every other club seems unaffected in the same way
I'm disappointed
Club goes on a bit of a run collecting points and pundits predict top 6
I get my hopes up
Club makes a run of utterly bizarre selection decisions coupled with internal strife and plummets
I'm disappointed
Club finishes mid to low table

Club releases You Tube video of the seasons goals and tells us that the project is going well and next season will be the season we break through
For some reason, with all the historical data to hand, I start to believe

Repeat from the top.

Forgot the bit about losing to a lower league club in the early rounds of the League Cup; although I suppose as that happens every fking season it's not a surprise.

In 1967 we were a top tier side with the infamous World Cup winning trio of Hurst, Moore and Peters. We were drawn against 3rd division Swindon town in the League cup. I don’t need to say what happened.

Nothing much has changed in the last 52 years. laugh

Not surprised but that prompted me to have a look.

T'was the FA Cup Third Round Replay & we lost 3-1 in front of 25k (!) at Swindon; the home match, which was played three days before, finished 3-3, Hurst with a hat-trick for WH smokin

Most recent game vs. Swindon (A), 15.08.17, was a Football League Trophy Group C – South game, and finished 3-2 to WH.

Prior to that we hadn't played them since '94 in the PL (!), we drew 1-1 at UP, Trevor Morley scored for WH & apparently Frank McAvennie and John Moncur were playing for Swindon.

As I#ve been supporting them for 54 years since '65 season I could have told you nothing's changed. Even with Hurst, Moore and Peters were still crap! rofl

You beat me, but only just. I went to my first match on 26 March 1966. Needless to say we lost which set the tone for future years. It was West Ham 1 Fulham 3.

I see Roy Keane is still beefing about Rice switching from Ireland, good to see Dave basically tell him to get over it. Nicely done.

Maybe we will preempt that by sacking Pellers tomorrow and then get the bounce ourselves. Or we will get humped 4 nil. Who knows...

With the clown in goal & pellers inability to manage the side we're fked regardless.
