Multiple sources now reporting United showed concrete interest in Griezmann.

Project getting United back to potential CL winning status is turning out into a seriously cosly operation.
We can easily afford it and these days if you want to compete with Barca & Real Madrid, it's the kind of money you have to spend!Buyout clause of just £85m, after Pogba yet another £85m......

A lot of very average players sell for around £30 million. And a World Class player is worth more than 3 average PL water carriers or fancy Dans.
The value in the transfer market is at the top. The fools are the clubs who refuse to pay top dollar but will buy several unimpressive players all for 10s of millions.

Neither. Swap deals just don't happen yet somehow get talked about every year.
There's little doubt that Navas was going to be part of the DDG deal with some cash coming our way also. If DDG leaves it will be a world transfer record for a keeper probably £60-£70M or so, crazy money but there's (most of) your money to buy Griezman. I think DDG is one of the best keepers in the world as probably do most reds but I can see us managing without him.

The thing is, RM are desperate for him and the ball is in our court so we control the situation and get to negotiate what we want. Not the other way round, which it tends to be with them! It would be astounding if we can get 60M for him and an amazing piece of business, which means we potentially get Griezman for 25M which would be the bargain of the century

I agree about "Clean Sheet Sergio". He's Argentina's number 1 and simply never lets us down! RM will have to break the bank for DDG that could involve a player coming the other way. If that player is Bale then I imagine we'll be the ones coughing up cash + player. Either way I'm looking forward to hearing of Jose's plans after the season ends. Can't help but feel frustrated about (the draws!) this season in the PL but tactically Jose has got things spot on since the 4-0 humiliation by Chelsea. One trophy in the bag, never been done before by a Utd manager and a 25% chance ( ) of the Europa. I can see us finishing 3rd (much to the disgust of the Spurs fans on here) which a few months ago nobody would have said. It's in our hands. Massive game tomorrow.
What's the obsession with fees ? I don't see the relevance if a club can afford to pay what is required to obtain the best players .
Nor does spending large sums equate to creating instant success .
Abus proclaiming we spent £150m quid , yet ignoring city spending near £200m and becoming worse than they were ,and trophyless .

City aren't on anybodies radar as they're not big enough. Football fans seem to love to hate United and anything to do with us, but it's what makes us stronger and tighter knit. Remember Beckham after the world cup exit...
The latest is the Spurs fans shouting how amazeballs they are because they spent £3.60 to get their amazing (but strangely under achieving) team together against the amount of money that we've spent. However it's only in the last 3-4 seasons that we've spent massive money. In the SAF years I think IIRC that he had a nett spend of £50M?...

As much as I hate Spurs, I don't think anyone can say they are under-achieving?
Their CL campaign this season was a joke, they exited early after dropping into the Europa and they will end the season trophyless as per...They play some nice football at times but they're not all that.
They've had 3 years under their manager, who is by all intents and purposes literally the best thing since sliced bread. All the other league challengers have had managerial changes (save for Arsenal). I would have expected more from them in that 3 years. There are plenty of trophies to go after.

Not sure I'd agree with under achieving, but I can see the argument. This is supposedly their best ever team and they are about to go yet another season without a trophy and they exited the CL at the group stage.Maybe so, but they've progressed every season, been involved in a title battle for this season and last (at least up till the last few weeks) and I think most people will expect them to challenge again next season and probably but a better cup run together.
I don't think anyone expected them to be this strong in the league this season, but they probably did as expected in the cup competitions, but definitely not under-achieved in my eyes.

Not sure why? They finished third by just a point last season and you'd expect they'd improve upon this, they're pretty much where one would anticipate they would be? anniesdad said:

Well for one, they spent very little (again) whereas you lot spent a lot and got in a proven EPL winner manager - they have over-achieved again, arguably you and City have under-achieved. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal roughly as expectedIMHO

They haven't progressed this season imo. No trophy... again and going to fall short in the league... again. They need trophies.I don't think anyone expected them to be this strong in the league this season, but they probably did as expected in the cup competitions, but definitely not under-achieved in my eyes.
