I think that's rose tints on. Bar one or two games Utd have been dire to watch all season.
Nonsense. I am one of our biggest critics, and we have been about as good anyone in most games. Teams still sit back against Utd more than against others, which makes the games less exciting.

I know you have a vendetta against Jose, perhaps LvG is your dad with all this love for him.
I just don't like the chap, his self obsessed behaviour, always blaming others, his style of play over the years etc. Although I must admit he improved on the latter.

O and by the way, somehow I'm one of the few on here who tries to support his opinion with argumentation. Not hollow phrases.

Challo said:
You say stats clear indentify we haven't improved. By any chance have you seen the post above about chance created?
Chances created has improved, but the quality of the chances ? Goals scored ?

Teams sit back against all the top teams. Utd are pretty much the only top team to use that tactic themselves though.

As much as Jose tries to convince people otherwise they've really not been pretty to watch at all.

We're talking relative. The word improvement was relevant in the OP. We are miles BETTER this season than last. Are we great? No.

This is exactly what I mean:

You can try to repeat the "We are miles BETTER this season than last" as much as you want and with capital letters, but reality is you're not supporting it with evidence and I'm not seeing it.

Ok let me try this another way.

Objectively.
We are 9 points better off than last season after 33 games.

We are unbeaten in 23. We broke our own record from 2010.

430 attempts last season, projected to be 620 this season.

144 shots on target last season. Projected to be 225 this season.

That's broadly 50% better in measurable attacking terms. Our finishing has been worse/not as productive.

We've won the Mickey Mouse cup (vs the FA cup last season).

We are in the semis of the EL - we might get to the final and we might win it. We made the last 16 last season.

Subjectively - we can argue about this till the cows come home. I watch every United game going, bar the Chelsea game a couple of weeks ago because of a wedding. I'm telling you, in my view, we are miles better than last season. I've no reason to say that other than it's my belief. You may recall I said LVG was st very early in the season last time round. Because it was obvious we were going backwards, and I won't hold back in my criticism of United when it's warranted.

What evidence do you have?

PS, putting better in capitals was highlighting the comparative, rather than absolute nature of your question. I think Askay missed that.

Not bad, finally someone who seems to back up his claims (bugger wink )

Its 8 points after 33 games by the way, not 9, and still in 5th.

Then again LvG didn't have Zlatan and Micky.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. LVG wasted his money on 2 pies et al. And Micky has been pretty inconsistent this season. You may also recall we beat Chelski without Zlatan.

In typical Mourinho fashion, sitting back hoping for a counter.

A terrible match to watch.

I believe the biggest reason for it was Uniteds 5 or 6 losses in a row in November and early december.

By the way, United after 33 matches in:

2014-2015: 65 points and a goal scoring record of +28
2016/2017: 64 points and a goal scoring record of +26

Massive improvement ?

Is that really the best you can muster? Again, you misunderstand the answer. The comment re Chelski was not about how good we are, but to dispel your assertion that the difference between the great one, and not so great one, is Zlatan and Mickey. It's really not.

If we lose, we're st and defensive - oh wait up, we don't lose. Let me start again wink.

If we draw, we're st and defensive. If we win, we're st and defensive.

I'd suggest you stop watching a st and defensive team you don't love.

I believe the discussion was (difficult for many people) if we've seen massive improvement over the past couple of years. My observation was, there's some progress, but it's slow.

Secondly and Iike I already mentioned I enjoyed watching a lot of matches under Mourinho, but then again there were also numerous matches in which Mourinho resorted in his usual behaviour, playing with CDM's, siting back, etc.

That doesn't tell the full story. We've dominated matches and failed to turn those into victories. 13 draws is a bit of a disaster in some ways, but work on our finishing and flip half of those into what were probably deserved victories and it's a very different scenario.

I was disappointed with Thursday's match, but totally understand playing for a point, even if frustrated at a poor match against our neighbours.

It all seems to be a pretty emotional experience for some on here.

Let's just trow another £100m at it next season on top of the already £500m in debt and you'll never know it might eventually work.

So far massive improvement indeed; world class football on a weekly basis, 5th in the leaque, apart from Zlatan hardly any goalscorers and a coach who does nothing but moan and puts blame on referees, his own players, injuries, predecessors, the schedule etc.

Massive improvement.
