So ORD your saying that most PT's, S&C Coaches etc are not qualified and have no idea what they are talking about and in principle what works for one person will work for another for fitness and building strength?
Largely, yes. Take a bunch of physically sound young men with excellent genetic potential (i.e. anyone at a PL club) and any sensible training programme (if the players do as they are told outside of training) should result in excellent strength and conditioning outcomes. We are not talking about "non-responders" here - these people are pre-selected for athletic ability.
I agree that they are already selected due to their physical ability but there is a huge amount of science that goes into the fitness industry. Yes you still get people who know sod all, but the amount of money football clubs invest into their players they would not employ any old tom dick or harry to run that part of the club.

Times have moved on days of jogging round the pitch a few times. Yes I agree that footballers have a duty to look after themselves outside of the club and not drink, sleep well, eat good food etc. If they dont then it gets found out very quickly.

To say that PT's and S&C coaches are unqualified and know nothing about the topic is very wide of the mark.

An interesting discussion could be had as to why some players sit at 10% body fat and others at 12%, I accept. Genetic differences probably play a big role there. But Rooney is and always has been an outlier.
Wazza is definitely an Endomorph body type so he was always less likely to look ripped than others imo

I think the wider point about his lifestyle might be one of commitment

Most football players will naturally be at a level in fitness and skill, the ones who succeed are the ones that live and breath football , forgoing everything else to get that n% improvement to make them a top player be it extra training, fitness, yoga etc. Players like G Nev achieved what they did by sheer bloody mindedness and dedication

My suspicion is that Wazza was so naturally gifted he never had to put that extra in as much as some others did and now he desperately needs to, its a bit late. Its not just his body shape that makes me think this but more that once he exploded onto the scene he never really progressed, yes he is our top scorer and has been amazing at times but I think he could have been more (and suspect this is where some Utd fans have issue with him)

Pure pseudoscience. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotype_and_const...

The fact that the wiki page was 4 pages into a google search after endless protien shake advertorial pages was the giveaway.

Undoubtedly genetics have an impact but he is a huge natural talent who could still be taking the fight to Ronaldo in terms of record, if he put in as much effort.

This, just being a physical specimen is not enough, and nor is being a genius...you find the sweet spot between the two dependent on your ability. Look at Rooney vs Jonathan Walters at Stoke.....Walters is an absolute machine in fitness terms but will never be as creative as Rooney.

I hope football never prefers one over the other.

Maybe but there is definitely something in it, I've trained and dieted with my best mate who is a Black guy and lifting the same, eating the same there were vast differences in how we displayed muscle, he was always more ripped where I looked more like a powerlifter.

Agree on your latter point though and that was the main crux of my point

Wayne rooney win the genetic lottery? do me a favour

precisely the opposite imo, he was always going to peak in his mid 20's was never going to last into his 30's BECAUSE of his genetic make up.

I was talking about his sporting aptitude, its widely reported he could have had a career as a boxer if he'd decided over football. he obviously has a talent for sport in many forms, I think because of this he hasnt had to try as hard as some and now we see the results

Me and you could train the same, eat the same and drink the same and I would almost guarantee we'd look different after a year.

As mentioned above with your friend, there is no 'one size fits all'. In my gym the black guys tend to look in much better shape than white/asian guys.

Well, considering it was being widely reported we were on the verge of signing Morata and had several other deals well underway, we've not completed much before Jose's apparently desired deadline of the end of June.
Was it the Ronaldo carrot being dangled yet again, the Confederations Cup or something else like the merry-go-round not starting properly yet? If they are working behind the scenes and it brings results then great, but are we in for another disappointing window? Fact is we need at least one striker/ forward after losing Ibra and Rooney proving pretty much finished.

I guess if the new dad returns to Madrid and has a change of heart and stays (the most likely scenario) - then Morata might come to you - if Ronnie decides to up sticks and go, then Morata will probably stay at Madrid. If Ronnie goes, then maybe MBappe or whatever his name is, becomes a target. So Monaco sell and then they are free to buy, or vice versa ... all hinging on on a few decisions on availability here and there - two months to go yet, don't panic.

Of course, Rooney may get an extension!

Looks smart. Rooney appears absent from prominent promo photos. Which is a first. Not poured through every photo though! I'm sure someone on Red Cafe has though!

Shaw front and centre, i hope that mean he's going to get a chance that return to pre leg break performance levels.

Rooney features in the new cover photo for the Facebook site.

I'm sure when my boys get home from school they'll be enquiring as to their chances...

Rude not to! I did note the home men's shirt is 90 quid. Not sure how much more than last year that is.

Is Shaw being placed deliberately front and centre, or is his belly just taking up all of the space?

Glad to hear it! He is a really talented lad, and I hope he gets his head together and makes a success of it at Utd.

Jose not happy with Ed getting the transfers done seemingly....

If Woodward was given a list in March then it's pretty crap that it's a few days before the tour and things are not finalised.
