End of his career? He's in his prime ffs and has at least 4 years at this level.
End of career maybe a bad choice of words. Last major transfer/contract.And I very much doubt he'll still be putting in the same level of performances at 33. You've probably got 2 good years left from him before he becomes too slow to be considered automatic XI - he'll be the player you bring on at 70 minutes to shore up a lead.

Touche. But my guess is that you're starting to see the quality in Utd that ABUs were able to deny last year.
I have pointed this out to dampen enthusiasm. But, to be fair, the other top sides have looked pretty bad even against weak teams.

Players tend to trail off at some time between 31 and 35, but its guesswork to say when that time will be for any particular player (although players with a lot of technical ability and strength tend to last a bit longer compared to players that rely on speed and/or power). I suppose Utd are betting on the possibility that Matic will not start to struggle for 3 years or more. I think that is realistic.
The physical drop off probably has more to do with miles on the clock and wear and tear than it does with chronological age. A player that has taken excellent care of himself might well see no major drop off until well into his 30s (says a 34 year-old who still has not peaked...)

Delusional.
I think most people's criticism of Matic was that it was a lot of money to spend on someone at the end of their career. Personally I thought it was a lot but understood that there is a premium to pay when buying off a top six rival.
It seemed a lot but then we've had walker and neymar. Seems a bargain now. I think most people's criticism of Matic was that it was a lot of money to spend on someone at the end of their career. Absolute steal. If Walker is £50 million, Matic is £100m at least.

No more than your arrogance when bigging up your chances after two games....against much less competitive clubs.
