People moaning about Lovren, why? in the past 10+ games him and Matip were unbeaten, yes he made a mistake but the whole team weren't exactly excellent yesterday.
Because he has been at best average ever since he signed for us. If you think he is the future, good luck!

Jamie Carragher critical of Lovren: source

And don't earlier on this season... he has previous! source

Carra was calling for Mings head at one stage this season, he has his opinion same as everyone!

I remember the game you have posted a newspaper gossip article about, he scored at both ends I think (or gifted a goal), but genuinely had a bad game, players have them no biggie!

Did I say he was the future, no, just saying why scapegoat him when the whole team did not perform!

I think Lovren is deservedly in for some criticism. I think his decision making is poor. At least with Mings he just had to grow some balls and start commanding his area a bit more. With Lovren, his instinct is wrong and I'm not sure how easy that's going to be to change. He's had some good games, he's had some really poor games (like yesterday) and he's had a LOT of average games.

Really hoping TAA steps up to the plate next season too and puts Clyne under pressure. He did OK defensively yesterday but only put one decent cross in and I don't remember him beating his opposite number once.

Lovren is a squad filler. Carraghar is right to call him out.

Origi meanwhile needs selling. We'd have been better playing Firmino central than Origi.

We need a striker, we need a central defender and we need a leader in the middle. And that's a minimum. Same old issues.

Klopp needs to buy early and buy big. Players like TAA will need at least next season to develop. They're not going to fix our problems in the short term.

I agree, but even if we buy quality players for those positions you highlight it's not going to solve our issue of not having any real attacking threat down the right wing (especially when Mane is out) and no real overlap.

If we DO get quality players in for those positions then it gives us a bit more flexibility to use a couple of younger more inexperienced players in certain games.

I think Hendo does lead when he is playing, what we need is a replcement for Can who is good but not quite good enough. I agree with everything else there though

For me yesterday, we lacked a focal point in the attack. Countless times we had the ball in the last third, yet there was not a player to be seen along the 18 yard box edge or D, we were spread down the wings, with no one attacking the centre halfs.
It seems anytime we break there is no one in the box for crosses (or only 1 person who is marked by 2 defenders), and we then either cross and lose it, or pass back and wait until everyone on the pitch is in their final third and try and pass it through and lose it because there is no space. We need to be more direct when breaking against teams who have most of their players behind the ball. We're too slow and then get crowded out in their box.

It could be worse - we could have the best player in the world in almost all the positions of our team, and yet still not manage to win anything. Now THAT would be a huge disappointment.

You'll be alright, you've got Milner.

We need City to whip United on Thursday. Goal difference is very tight between us 3, we are now level with City and only 2 ahead of United. This 3rd/4th spot will go down to the wire but we are no longer in control.

Klopp I am afraid again meeds to take the blame for this defeat. How many times are we conceding from simple set pieces? Does he not work on it during training? What exactly is he coaching? It's been like this for years with no change.
Palace also conceded from a set piece

Sturridge by all accounts has had to miss training again most of the week. So bye bye Sturridge in the Summer, I guess.
Realistically, who would be willing to take a risk with Sturridge?

So, apparently in the last 2 seasons, Sturridge has missed 27 matches due to injury. Henderson has missed 43.

I had missed the last (of my long) pages. Just wanted to reply to this; who does Clyne have to pass to? Clyne does ok pushing forward, just there is no one to cross it to when he (as well as Milner) get up the wing. Then they have to wait around until the other team gets organised and some of our players move a bit forward. With no one/ only 1 player in the box there is not really crossing options for players on the wing.

Reports on TIA suggest that Sturridge has had a recurrence of his thigh injury. Also quotes a staff member as they're not sure when "Sturridge will think he's fit to play"! Which rather reminds me of what Gerrard said about him.

Either way, I guess that will be that. Ta ta Sturridge, shame it never really worked out as well as in the first couple of years.

The stats between Milner and Clyne are quite interesting. Considering everyone keeps raving about Milner not being a natural LB, he's got much better attacking stats than Milner and mostly better defensive stats too:

So Chelsea won tonight, which means barring a total collapse from them and a mathematical miracle, we won't now win the title this season...

Is that the team with the greatest goalie the world has ever seen, ever ever ever? Yes, that would be a shame.

I think its much easier for any player to play at an average level and get away with it when there isn't really any competition.

Clyne in particular has had a very poor season. Milner has done very well at left back bar getting the ball in to the box enough because he has to cut back. Though given the choice there are games where I would have preferred to see him in midfield where he would have made more of a difference.

At least we know Moreno is gone next season.
