From the point that Wijnaldum fizzed the cross into Can it was obvious that we were going to drop points. The performances at home have probably cost us Champions League football. The little London clubs that come to Anfield on their big day out with the same park the bus mentality and same 3 generic songs are destroyed by our first XI as evidenced by Spurs and Watford. However when we are missing pace and width then we become very predictable and easy to defend against.
There's no doubt that when we have our first XI available that we are the best footballing side in the country however we have zero squad depth as well as inability to defend set pieces. We've been unlucky with so many absentees this season and no other club would have been able to cope with the quantity and quality of our missing players however the lack in squad depth and persistent issues with defending set pieces is a management issue that Klopp needs to address in the pre season if we are to progress.
Klopp is intelligent enough not to be stubborn and address these issues in the same way that Rafa addressed our away form in his early tenure.

Bloody hope not.
I will get loads of freebies if we do play there, but i really hope we go Milton Keynes instead.
You obviously haven't been to the Dons stadium too often? I will get loads of freebies if we do play there, but i really hope we go Milton Keynes instead.
They need to play at the Dons stadium in order to have any chance of creating an atmosphere. The fact that Liverpool have the second highest attendance at Wembley in a friendly says it all.
We were crap. One shot on target all game.
We've not got enough quality players and players like Clyne, Can Wijnaldum Lovren and Origi are just too average too much of the time.
Of course it doesn't help when we look utterly clueless time after time against a team that is happy to sit back and defend and make the most of the big man up front. That's on no one else other than Klopp.
As for after we went behind. No game plan whatsoever.
Wherever we end up we need to pay the transfer fees and the wages to bring in the players we need for the now rather than the Grujic's or Origi's.

I doubt we'd (Utd) have a truly full house given the same circumstances and you certainly wouldn't.

You could argue Lovren at fault for both goals. From memory he was also responsible for conceding an unnecesary goal at Bournemouth when we were 2-0 up and cruising... he is just an average defender, still looks nervous at times - he is possible squad filler at best. He definitely needs to be replaced in the first team.
The player we had of course is Sakho. Unfortunately, to prove a point it looks like we've repeatedly lost 3. I have no doubt that all Lovren will be next season is a squad player.RedTrident said:

19 Dec 2015: Klopp denies Liverpool have a set piece vulnerability: source 03 Apr 2017: Klopp admits to still have not have solved set piece problem: source
Today: Klopp says the 2nd goal was not a set piece error.
Years and years of shocking defending and continual denials by Klopp that we don't have a set piece problem which he then contradicts... the message is confusing, least not for the Liverpool defenders themselves. Klopp needs to sort this mess out in the summer.

Didn't want to go yesterday as feeling rough and I knew we would fk up.
Had to go as no one wanted the seats and there we go - what a piss taking annoying afternoon that just served to frustrate. One step forward 2 steps back.
Klopp bought on everyone and swapped formation so he couldn't ne accused of no plsn b but nothing improved.
We're linked with no one worth having and if we were the spenders would blow us out.
It's been emperors new clothes since December - yesterday we were starkers.

For me yesterday, we lacked a focal point in the attack. Countless times we had the ball in the last third, yet there was not a player to be seen along the 18 yard box edge or D, we were spread down the wings, with no one attacking the centre halfs.
Ok we play fluid football & people interchange positions, but Origi & Ferminho were pretty anonymous yesterday. We never looked like scoring from open play, can't recall a single decent shot on target?
We wasted a lot of possession with not even hopeful through balls/balls knocked into the box with no one there/ over the top into no one in particular.. it looked like we had run out of ideas.

Origi was poor agreed however Firmino was decent I thought, was on the ball a fair bit and did plenty of tracking back. Completely agree about not shooting in open play, Milner should have had a pop as he had a good sight of goal.
Why Klopp didn't swap Origi for Woodburn I don't know, last time he came on he made some great runs wanted to get in behind and looked good with the ball at his feet. As Cara said in the commentry it was all too late make your changes in the 65-70 minute not the 80th.
People moaning about Lovren, why? in the past 10+ games him and Matip were unbeaten, yes he made a mistake but the whole team weren't exactly excellent yesterday.
Very frustrating as its so tight for 4th and getting Champions League would be great!!
Entirely predictable, any well organised, tall team that likes set pieces will cause us problems, I stick with my prediction on here a few weeks ago that we will miss out on top 4, and results like yesterday will be why
I don't like picking out individual players but... I'm going to - I am sure Klopp identified Benteke as the danger man for corners, and put Can on him - can someone explain what Can was doing for the second goal?
