It's not like the club didn't have a telephone number for Southampton FC.
Telephone number? We've done so much business with Saints we probably have a 'transfers' WhatsApp group. According to a report, RB Leipzig have slapped a €80m price tag on Keita, which is ~£70m. Which in real money terms, probably means they would accept €70-75m. Given that Kante went for £30m, that would represent a sizeable premium, for a similar type player albeit one that is 4 years younger. With my FSG future ROI cap on, perhaps not a bad investment maybe?

Imagine if we got him and VVD. Keita
VVD
Salah
We could stop there, would be the best transfer window since Beardsley and Barnes turned up together.

He seems to have a lot more to his game than being a Kante type player..look at his record last season...Pommygranite said:

8 goals, 8 assists? I'm guessing Kante didn't provide anything near that?
Nowhere near would be my guess - but do they have a stat for 'breaking up the opposition's play' or 'nicking the ball' cos he'd be right up there which is just as important ...Adam B said:

Liverpool have escaped punishment by the Premier League for allegedly tapping up Virgil van Dijk.
The Saints made an official complaint to the Premier League earlier this month when numerous reports published at the same time revealed that van Dijk had told his employers he wanted to move to Anfield.
Southampton officials suspected that the media had been briefed by Liverpool sources and also claimed to have evidence that Jurgen Klopp had privately met with van Dijk.
But following a preliminary investigation the Premier League has found insufficient evidence to start disciplinary proceedings.
Southampton have not withdrawn their complaint, but accepted an apology from Liverpool three weeks ago and will not push for them to be charged.

Looks like the all-action midfielder we are missing. Runs things like a general in midfield and drives the play forward. Provides that link between defence and attack with a great touch too. If spending upwards of £120-£140m on two quality players and then having a couple of dry windows to recuperate financially... I imagine not too many people would be complaining. And of course some that spend would be offset via sales.
