Would love to use the £70m we're thinking of using for Keita and tempt Bayern with an offer for Vidal!
Keita 22

Vidal 30

Not likely.

Any truth to the Keita links or just wishful thinking before we buy the Ox for 30 million.

It's been widely reported for a while that our top targets were/are Salah, VVD and Keith. Will we pay £70m for Keith, who knows?!

He has a buy out clause of 48m which comes into force next summer and that is when Bayern and Madrid are suppose looking to buy him, so if we want him this summer we will need to pay 65/70m - player of the year in Germany in his 1st season and only 22 - that price could turn out to be a bargain

Lets just hope all this talk of big buys dont materialise into 3rd/4th cheaper options

Well we bought Salah.

We would have bought VvD for c50 million if we hadn't got stupid.

If we bought Keita I'd expect us to sell sooner or later at least one of Henderson or Can.

We have players that are leaving, we have the tv money, the champions league and the manager. Surely it makes sense to buy the best we can now.

Salah, Keita and VvD would cost at the most 175 million between them.

The sales of Lazer, Sturridge, Sakho, Lucas etc will bring 75 million in at least.

Will FSG spend 100 million of new money this window. Who knows.

Those 3 on their own I believe would take this squad to new levels.

Why are you so obsessed with us selling players? I'm pretty sure LFC don't operate a "one in, one out" policy on players rolleyes If we want to be competitive next season then we are going to need better squad depth than we've had for the last few seasons (in fact, you are usually the first to moan when our bench is weak). So IMO we should be looking to add players whilst keeping the likes of Henderson, Can, Sturridge and Lucas. Obviously there are going to be some sales, and of course there may be some players that will want to leave if we bring in new signings. But I certainly don't think should be actively looking to sell players who have been first team regulars for the last 12-24mths.....

1. Excellent.

2. Hopefully if it happens we can finally put to bed the F$G tag and constant whining about the money spend.

Hasn't he said we're going to make a club record bid? Doesn't mean we're going to bid £70m, in fact we only need to bid £36m for it to be a club record!

Because, whether you agree with the approach or not, history tells us we aren't going to spend £175m. The only way these three players happen is by selling others too. Of the four named, I'd miss Lucas but I think we're at the point now where the team wouldn't. Sturridge would be a compromise that's probably worth it on balance, the other two aren't getting a kick whatever, so might as well go.

One of Henderson or Can would be disappointing because both are on the cusp of being really very good, Can getting much much better recently, Henderson if fit has proved he can play at the highest level in a team of stars, but I think isn't one to drag the team up a level like Gerrard was. It was his red card against City that cost us the league, if we add those three players to the team then there's a good chance Henderson would be able to be that player again and I'd like to see if that's the case. I don't think either will go though. You could perhaps make a stronger case for Milner leaving, but I doubt the numbers would stack up on that.

The problem is that if we buy three, chances are one turn out rubbish, so this approach is more risky than buying 6 lesser players, but it's for the Club etc to weigh up those risks against the potential rewards.

I don't think it's possible to have your cake and eat it this year, we can either improve the first 11 massively, and lose some squad depth, or improve the first 11 a bit and maintain the depth. It's only the first approach that will move us up the league, if that works, then we're in a better position to increase depth next year.

We'll sell Moreno, Sakho and Lazer for sure, which is probably £50m+. It's been said that we'll only sell Sturridge if he decides he wants to leave, which it doesn't look like he does. It's also been said that we won't sell Can even if he doesn't sign a new contract, but we'll have to see on that. No chance we're selling Henderson.

I could well see us net spending £100-130m this summer.

I'm not at all obsessed with selling players. I just don't see us being able to spend 200 million or so without some players leaving. Especially when these are hardly getting a game now.

Sakho, Moreno, Lazer, Stewart, Wisdom and Lucas will all be gone.

Can will be sold if he doesn't sign a contract. Henderson will do well to force his way into the team if we buy Keita, especially with his injury problems.

We only play with one forward of which Firmino suits. Origi has already said he wants to play more and if the right offer came in I think Sturridge will go as he doesn't suit Klopp's style and really would anyone rely on him to play 5 games in a row?

Klopp has had enough time in this league to assess what it's made of and what we need. I'm pleased with the calibre of players he's going after. Salah, Keita and Virgil in would be a breathtaking transfer window if we are able to pull it off. For a long time we've all been asking for quality over quantity.

BBC reporting that Liverpool are willing to meet the £70m fee to land Keita.

If this is true, this would be a truly groundbreaking signing and I am not even talking about the fee. Keita for me would probably be the biggest signing since Suarez. We have lacked a real presence in midfield since a young Stevie - Keita could transform our fortunes especially against the 'smaller' teams that put 10 men behind the ball.

They're not, they're just reporting what was said yesterday, that we're willing to big a club record fee for him, which could be anything over £35m.

Yes that's true. Given that he has a €57m (~£48m) clause that can be activated next summer, you would think if he was to go this summer, we would have to pay at least £60m for Leipzig to even consider a bid.

Not sure why you keep drumming on about this 1m over 35m jammy, its quite obvious we are not going to bid 36m yeah, its says break our record but we are at a table to negotiate, we are suppose willing to pay 50m they want 70m would not shock me if we end up 60/65m
lets face it we were gonna pay 50m ish for a cb we would pay more than that for a 22 yr old in midfield who was just voted player of the year in germany
