I was watching THe Big Match on BTTV last night a game from 1977 and there was an ad for Countinho Scrap metal....
I watched a bit of that... reminded me of a few things... 1) how appalling fans behaved back then, 2) how bad tackles could be and not even get a yellow, 3) how terrible the pitches were.Had to switch over after 10 mins.

You switched over because the pitches and tackles were bad? Really? That's footy for me, not the pampered poodle crap of today with players feigning injury all the time. I love watching old matches.Had to switch over after 10 mins.

I'd be interested if Sakho is part of the deal, if true.

I switched over because the fans were on the pitch every 5 mins. The rest is just progress.

Apparently Klopp is now looking elsewhere and accepts Leipzig won't sell Keita.
Frankly, if reports of him sulking at Leipzig's camp are accurate because they won't sell (and he has to honour his contract) then good riddance. We could have ended up with 2 players this summer who we only got because they sulked and stropped enough. No thanks.

I think that was our clubs plan all along. Apparently Klopp is now looking elsewhere and accepts Leipzig won't sell Keita.

Put bids in even if the clubs don't want to sell and utimately have the player say they want to leave.
Every player has a price. We weren't willing to pay. Simple really. Did we put that final 75 million bid in?
It's like the old Everton going after Messi and bidding less than what Barcelona thinking he's worth. To excite their fans even their improved bids are below what the selling team wants. FSG doing what they do best, moving on to other targets, Southampton on speed dial.... oh wait a minute, we pissed them off by announcing a transfer fee without talking to them.

stty way to do business. I really don't like it. If that's true how we're behaving now, it stinks. Someone should ask that question in a press conference and see what Klopp says.Put bids in even if the clubs don't want to sell and utimately have the player say they want to leave.
I get the impression they had named a price early, but that it was a random high one they thought would put us off as it was so high. Then we have bid at/near the price due to all the money in the PL this season. Their management has really thought about it, and decided they don't want to get a reputation as a selling club so will not sell him whatever the price. That helps them build for the future as it helps persuade players they're in it for the long term.

What's me having heard of Keita got to do with anything. Well reported he was Klopp's no 1 target.
I see FSG for what they are. If Coutinho goes and they bank another 100 million. Watch the Kop turn on them.
You're basically complaining FSG are being "cheap" on someone who has had 1 good season (who non? of us knew about before), when they are bidding what seems to be the asking price or almost the asking price. Which is a very high price considering that no other clubs are in for him now, and that he has only had 1 good season. As others have said there will be more targets for the money we have bid. Just because a club asks for a price it doesn't mean we should pay it no matter what.I see FSG for what they are. If Coutinho goes and they bank another 100 million. Watch the Kop turn on them.
Do you see them in the same way that you saw Can was rubbish for a while, yet now he is a player we shouldn't lose?

We didn't bid the asking price.
Of course we shouldn't sell Can if we have no midfielder coming in to our wafer thin squad. But if he won't sign a contract I'm happy to see him go and if we haven't got someone of quality lined up then it speaks volumes once more of the ineptitude of our transfer team.
As for other targets, whatever. It's a broken record. Same as going back for him next summer. You should contact FSG and offer to help write their annual letter to the fans.

We have no idea who the Number 1 was. Certainly he seems to be up there, but VvD could well have been before the leak/ talking to the player. Any chance of the confirmation that we didn't bid the asking price? It seems to be our last bid was the asking price, or perhaps a few million below it. On a player that will have a clause to get out for 2/3rds of the price we are bidding now next season, and who has only had 1 good season. For 70 million or so! Yet they're still cheap owners!
We do know who our main targets were. Salah, VvD, Keita. We did not bid the price that they wanted. He is their prized player. Flip the situation around.
When he's available at 2/3rds of the price he'll be going elsewhere. Especially after we courted him but didn't push the boat out.
They are businessmen. They are here to make money. The occasional 4th place will do them fine as the tv money rolls in.
I'm not sure why your finding it so difficult to see. It's like buying an old house, doing it up a little bit then selling at a huge profit. Whilst you owned it the neighborhood has also undergone gentrification.
There are no other targets. Klopp said as much at the end of the season of knowing who he wanted.
