I honestly think the best way to beat them is either catch them on a really off day, or to press them and beat them at their own game (and still need a large amount of luck).
I've posted several times that I'm still not convinced Citeh will win the league by a country mile. There's a lot of football still to be played and they've got a busy few months coming up.Nine-Eighty-Six said:
What's to like?
Won the lottery of being traded as a rich man's toy and eventually landed with owners who are willing to pull every trick in the book to circumvent any semblance of financial fair play (£400m sponsorship deal with a company that never makes a profit?). Yes, they play pretty football - but even having spent more money than any other club in the Premier League, they still can't consistently fill a relatively small stadium. The supporters spent years slagging off the traditional clubs who've earned the right to spend through winning stuff and making sensible financial decisions - but now they assume the right to buy their way out of trouble using un-earned money.
Whilst football has largely been about who has the most money to spend - most clubs in the EPL have earned it from footballing activities.
A nice post full of inaccuracies, biased opinions and jealousy but carry on Won the lottery of being traded as a rich man's toy and eventually landed with owners who are willing to pull every trick in the book to circumvent any semblance of financial fair play (£400m sponsorship deal with a company that never makes a profit?). The worry is that City could go out & spend another £200M in january without batting an eyelid.
Reading the gossip they are still in for Sanchez & the centre half at Southampton
Although i really enjoy watching them play, i fear this could well be the end of a competitive premiership league.

Those two should be less than £120m given that Sanchez is free in 6 months.Reading the gossip they are still in for Sanchez & the centre half at Southampton

But yes, it seems the top six is going to become the top 1 or 2. I think the really scary thing is that if Utd had a decent manager and actually bought well they could spend as much as City all within the old FFP rules. They have absolutely no excuse for being so far behind City.
But yes, City have a very young squad so they could well be set up to dominate for quite a number of years to come. I think the PL is going to become like the Bundesliga; Bayern Munich and the rest.

Yes, they could go out and buy any player they wanted for any amount of money. My point more was that City have spent an average of £200m over each of the last three seasons. That sort of spend is not out of the reach of Utd (who have spent £150m on average).
It’s not out of reach, but the Glazers will reign in spending eventually. Finishing a distant second and still getting CL and TV money alongside sponsorship deals will be enough for them, but not us. Equally, if City see is becoming a credible threat, they can up their game and spend £500m a season if they want. Spending big is part and parcel of the game now. To an extent it always was as United spent big historically, so we can’t complain. The risk is that the PL becomes a league for second place. Whilst United and Liverpool have dominated previously there were always other winners and other teams to push them all the way. The only question this year is will anyone manage not to lose to City.

Over a ten year period they have spent something like 500m more than united ,and they didn’t have David Moyes setting them back 5 years. So united and others are playing catch up ,they had the best squad in the prem (they have underachieved for a few years) and spend 600m on it ,United languish in 6th place spend say 400m ,You can see the issue not just for united but whoever.
