Out of curiosity, what happens in a penalty-shootout if all of Chelsea's players (9) had taken one and scored, and Norwich then scored with their 10th successful penalty? Are Chelsea allowed to return to the player who took the fiorst penalty, or have they had their fill?

Just a thought.
It used to be that if all the score was level after 9 pens each, then Norwich would have won, because we didn't have a 10th player to go up against your 10th player. And if we went back to the first player, that would give us an advantage because our best pen taker would be up against one of your worst.

But I think they changed it a few years back to say that on the 10th pen, both teams would go back to their 1st taker and the shootout continues as normal.
What makes you think everyone puts their best penalty taker first?
Fair point. But he'll certainly be in the top 5!!! If he got to take another pen against the 10th or 11th player from the team who hadn't had a man sent off, that would be rewarding the team down to 9 or 10 men.
That’s also assuming the first five were all successful with their penalties. Some might well have made a right horlicks of theirs which might well pray on their minds when the second one comes around. Besides, I think if you’re still all square after nine or ten it really is a lottery as to who’ll go through - not many shootouts get that far.

Back to last night, even the Norwich player thought it was a foul on Willian

Why don't we go for Giroud? He's out of favour but a proven goalscorer
I'd have him. I'd rather we got a world class striker in, but with Conte on his way end of the season we won't be buying any big names

Penalty shootouts are never a lottery. In fact, they are the exact opposite. They are 100% a test of nerve and skill. I'm not sure there's any luck involved at all.

Of course there's luck involved - every time a keeper guesses the right way it's luck.

No it's not, it's research. In our CL final, Cech faced 6 pens, including the Robben one during the match, and went the right way every time. That's not luck.

And LeTissier scored 48 out of 49. Did the keeper only go the right way once? Maybe he was so good, they couldn't be saved even when the keeper went the right way. Same with van Nistelrooy. Didn't matter what way the keeper went, every pen went in an inch from the post. No luck involved at all.

Peter Crouch would score goals for side as good as Chelsea.

One thing for sure is that he'd give his all for the club & the fans.

He has the respect from all the fans from every club he's played for .

I'm sure Mrs Crouch will love Sloane Street .

She could meet up with Mrs Mourinho ( she lives nearby }for some shopping & ask her why her husband is such a dick .

Oddly enough, he used to be a season ticket holder at The Bridge - his dad still was a few years ago, not sure if that's still the case.

I've always liked the guy, seems an honest footballer & likeable chap.

Loved his quote in answer to "what would you be if you weren't a footballer" ....... " a virgin"

Not so sure about signing him for Chelsea though!

I'll always have fond memories of Crouch at Anfield. He's better than those that mock him suggest, but I'm not sure he's the answer Chelsea need.

Some clubs have a strategy of building a youthful side of English talent.

An alternative strategy of ageing, average English talent hasn't been tried for a while. Worked at Wimbledon.

I heard something on the radio or a podcast that Chelsea need to up their squad with more English players for registration or something.

Would explain their interest in their recent signings & mooted transfer targets as of late.
