Don't get too excited, as much as I prefer this shape Burnley are rock bottom.

Minnows in the week about mid table at best.

I do think this is a good sign of things to come and squad rotation is really working well for Frank.
Burnley were woeful. I couldn't believe the amount of space they gave.

One positive on the defensive side, there was a lot less messing around. Silva seems so much more commanding in defence & I'm sure that gives Zouma confidence, Mendy also doesn't seem to flap around at crosses just clean takes.

We did get lucky at 0-0, when Ashley Barnes was thru one on one with Mendy. That was a stonewall pen, that no one even appealed for. Sure, He missed the chance, but he was immediately felled by the keeper just after he made contact with the ball. So the ball was still in play, and it was a clear foul, inside the box.

Glad I wasn’t going mad, not even a comment on MOTD, think Barnes was too embarrassed at the miss to remember to appeal

It seems to have become a thing over the years. If the attacker has got his shot or header off, you can basically decapitate him a millisecond afterwards, and the ref will ignore it.

Remember Demba Ba away at Newcastle a few years back, having his face rearranged by Coliccini. Ended up as a goal kick!

Definitely a harsh red but I’m not complaining hehe

Werner looks strong at pens.

Joke of a decision and the poor bloke gets sent off for his trouble as well.

Decent pen by Werner though.

Correct interpretation of a ridiculous law - very harsh.

It hit his chest and arm at the same time. The ball wasn't affected by touching his arm.

What a joke that was a penalty and the guy was sent off.

With the current laws can be a penalty but never a yellow

DeltonaS might be on to something about Ziyech. Best player on the park!

Yup, some of his passing was outstanding. Good to see us recover confidently from dropping that early goal, even with the caveat of it being SheffU

It did.

Good performance after a ropey start. Up to 3rd now.

Have to agree about Ziyech. Working with James down the right gives so many options for crosses.

Other pluses :
  • Tammy is starting to look like a centre forward... ability to actually hold up play & bring others into the game
  • Silva...brilliant signing, he’s brings so much
  • Werner ...misses a sitter.... couple of minutes later similar situation smashes it in.

So top of the league, albeit temporarily. Good to win easily at a ground where we often fail to, but again, a ridiculous amount of great chances went begging.

Nice whilst it lasted hehe Anyway, decent performance and whilst we could/should have put away one or two more we looked solid at the back. +2 goals, clean sheet, strong league position with the new lads gelling nicely... I'll take that
