Been a poor year for us after starting well. I've sat and watched far too many games where we have just been absolutely awful and others where its just a different team e.g Madrid.

Not clinical enough as well when we needed and had chances.

It is a big ask to expect lots out of our developed youth, the class is there it just needs some consistency.

We will need;

-2 defenders, Silva is just not going to keep up next year, Rudiger off and the other Herbert obviously off.
-We need winger options so we don't get fubared like when losing RJ.
-Conor Gallagher will be coming into the squad and I hope Broja to give us some new faces, CG I can't wait to see in the Double six.

The problem I foresee though is that, whereas previously you've had the spending power of Citeh and United, going forwards, it's more likely to be comparable to Spurs & Arsenal.

Well this is where the rubber hits the road as they say. This summer will show us what ambitions the new owners will have. However there is a need to buy a lot smarter than in past years. The hit/miss ratio is not very impressive. Hopefully one change will be Tuchal being able to recommend players that fit how he wants to play rather than having signings put on him. They don;t all need to be marquee signings. After all how did Conte turn Moses & Alonso into a pair of title winning wingbacks?

Press speculation as a result of Govt comments about the sale (or even it not happening!) are not helping any plans either.

I'd forgotten about him! If I'm honest though he just hasn't shown enough. to make a material difference. More inconsistent than Pulisic to be honest. Anyone else I've missed.

There has been some bad luck with injuries which hasn’t helped. Sometimes it’s felt like players & the team were just hitting their stride when injury has struck.. Look at the squad & Werner, Zieyech, Pulisic, Lukaku, Havertz, Kanye, Kovacic, Chilwell, James have all had long stretches out injured.

I did. I genuinely though if he was used right then he’d provide the goals that Pulisic, Werner and Havertz couldn’t.

So you need a bit less bad luck with injuries, not 15 new players?

Recurit 1 or 2 good players (1 because Rudiger is off) and you will be top 3 again IMO

Agree...unless they decide to do a huge clear-out to reduce wage spend, then they aren't going to change the squad like its Championship Manager. They've invested hugely in those contracts and players.

I would say the big question is Lukaku vs youth / on loan options up front.

I think we need to shape around Lukaku a bit, broja looks promising so he may be a good option to bring in.

Also has Tuchel really had the time to work with this squad as well? We've had a lot of fixtures. Oh yeh and he's gone through a divorce as well...

We have a top draw youth system and players to bring in so don't forget that.
