Hi just recently got my car back from having a new theormstat housing replaced and all new pipes as there was as a leak, just got it back yesterday and my fan now comes on as soon as I start the car (engine cold) and stays on whilst driving it, it then only goes off when I turn the car off after about 5/10 mins, it's never done it before. Any ideas what it could be? And if it's going to cost a fortune as I've just had to pay out a lot already
HELP
Thanks

It sounds like the switch that turns it on is permanently shorted out, should be a simple thing to check by disconnecting it to see if the fan stops. If it does, then it needs replacing for a few squids.

Thank you for the reply smile. Would you recommend I go to mini dealership or just a standard garage?

Thanks

Dave.

Is your AC on?

The fan should kick in and out every few seconds with the AC on.

Take it back to whoever did the stat, sounds like they've dropped a booboo.... Assuming it didn't do it before you took it to them.

If the fan's staying on so long then it sounds like an overheating issue... mine did that until I had the entire cooling system replaced(!) and then the head gasket(!!) (under warranty thankfully). Is the temp gauge going above the middle? Is the coolant level consistent? is there any bubbling in the coolant when you park up?
