Hi guys,

Just curious if any of you guys know any good photography locations apart from the usual Denburn/Fredrick street. I went up to the abandoned caravan park in Peterculter and it's been blocked off so you can't get a car in there these days. Anymore ideas?

Cove Bay harbour if you can still get down there. Torry Battery is a good one. Also the gate house at Loch of Skene a bit past Westhill on the way towards Alford can be a good spot too:

Meant to ask - when you say Denburn, do you mean the P&D car park? Also, whereabouts on Frederick Street is good for photos, in the multistorey?

The Loch of Skene one looks good! I'm quite fancying something kind of abandoned looking, or industrial, if you know of anything like that?

Denburn car park, a lot of people use it for parking for the theatre though so pick your time wisely haha. Yeah, the Fredrick Street multi-storey! It's usually not too bad, the lighting is reasonably consistent which is nice. Not so great for really low cars, can be a bit of a struggle with the steep ramps.

Hmm, not sure - there must be some empty units around Altens sort of area just now? Have you had a look down around the harbour - not sure how much of that is accessible without keys/security passes though...

Unfortunately most of the harbour is out of bounds to us mere mortals. - but you could get some good shots with stuff going past if you go down to outside the Silver Darling and the old harbour masters house.

Catterline bay further south takes you right down to the waters edge, with a decent rocky beach to try ideas from?

Collieston Harbour used to be one of my favourite photo locations - when the weather is good of course

Agree, Collieston is a good call! - there is another further north, lots of older boats, with a small turning circle with one side being cliff, the other side being water, just what you need with some larger turning circle cars!

Last place I went was the industrial area just off St Machar Drive, Tilly's finest just in the background too but the roughness suited the subject matter I thought.

For something a bit different, how about the South Deeside road? It's a trek but there are some very nice spots if you follow it out as far as Balmoral.

Did I say it's a trek? No worries, it's still one of my favourite roads to drive on a sunny day.

The cobbled streets around Aberdeen University area make for some nice locations too, now I think about it.

Thread resurrection time. Anyone know what the Frederick St. multi storey is like these days? Thinking about using it as a shoot location but I saw a story on the Evening Express website from last autumn that the locals had been complaining of some fairly antisocial behaviour there lately.

Can be a bit of a hangout for younger guys who like to keybang their 1.2 fiesta’s etc. Depends on what time of night you go! Also can be a bit of a nightmare if it’s quite a low car you’re in haha.

Cheers for that. Is that mainly at weekends or midweek too?

Think it’s more at the weekends to be honest.
