I'm not that fussed we're out of that cup. We played a lot of prospects and they weren't good enough to get past a Prem team. Lets be honest, this cup is the lowest of our priorities this season.
Still, would have been nice to have had an easier opponent like Barnsley to thump with our kids. I bet Spurs hammered them - anyone know the score?
Lots of positives from the game too. Ings looked great, Solanke is great, Woodburn continues to impress and Ward look just as good as our other two goalies (faint praise).
They won. Just so you know, that's the opposite of what you lot managed tonight.Still, would have been nice to have had an easier opponent like Barnsley to thump with our kids. I bet Spurs hammered them - anyone know the score?

If we win on Sat evening, this result will be a distant memory.
I wonder if we actually need a few wins on the bounce to make the recent matches a distant memory.I also understand resting people, but chopping and changing the team constantly is IMO part of the reason we often do the wrong pass up front. And gives no time for the defence to get to know each other - although with the players/tactics I am not sure it could improve much anyway.

For me Hendo really showed the youngsters what it's all about tonight, his work rate all the way to the final whistle was great!
Really? The captain was awful once again. His place and his captaincy are now on the line. He offers no protection to his defenders and his all round game has gone backwards. Hard work is a minimum requirement. Ox was even worse.

You've got a lot of very average players. Klopp worked miracles to get you where you finished last season. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he pulled those misfits together, but nor would it be remotely surprising for Liverpool to finish mid-table. You have plenty of mid-table players, including your captain.

Agree we're under achieving - that's the opposite of being an "occasionally over achieving mid table team". We should be much better.
Even Klopp sounded very peed off with the way the goals were conceded and not scoring in the first half.
It really is getting painful, sides know we cant defend so know they will at least get a goal or maybe 2 against us.Even Klopp sounded very peed off with the way the goals were conceded and not scoring in the first half.
What really p****** me off is second time in 2 weeks head go down when we conceded a goal.
Klopp needs to get a grip here or else he will be gone. Clearly what ever training is being done in defence isnt working. The set up of the team needs to be more defensive and we need to be a more compact unit.
We need to pick a back 4 and give it game time, not rotate it every game.
We need to pick a number 1, (my choice is Ward) and stick with him. Goalies do not need a rest!
I could go on, but the errors are all there for everyone to see, it just seems the players and Klopp have no idea how to stop them.

We all know that but let's not kid ourselves. We need to:get the winning mentality back
improve sharpness
give some confidence to junior members of squad
keep a clean sheet
none of that happened so it was a poor night all round

The problem with Klopp is he trusts players to much, and no doubt feels that when he trains them they will improve or stop doing the stupid mistakes. Problem is now they have repeated them time after time, so maybe we might now see either in Jan or the summer some investment in defensive minded players. If as a player you are making the same mistake time after time, simple fact is you are not good enough not too.

I nearly fell off my chair due to fainting after reading that. Would you believe it, a Liverpool fan who actually speaks sense get the winning mentality back
improve sharpness
give some confidence to junior members of squad
keep a clean sheet
none of that happened so it was a poor night all round

I'm pretty sure if we lined up with that team against Leicester in the Prem we would expect to get beaten. Not sure why last night is any different?
They didnt line up with their strongest? ras62]oshcowin said:

Did you watch the game? Your reaction and comments above sound like you didn't!! And I would imagine his captaincy and place are far from ' on the line' who in the squad would you have replace him? I'm genuinely interested to see who you choose!Really? The captain was awful once again. His place and his captaincy are now on the line.
