I think Klopp wanted Goretzka badly but he opted for Bayern Munich. A quality freebie, he must have tried hard. Just a hunch of course.
I personally think we are unlikely to see another big money signing this window (for sure) or even next without some sales going through i.e. Sturridge. My feeling now is that he will concentrate on wooing Can and selling him the dream in the short term.

Utd seem to have a record for buying high profile players that don't work out or spend much time out injured, in recent times. Sanchez may improve them hugely or he may bomb. I wonder how his wife feels about the shops in Manchester...
While I don't mourn Coutinho, we shouldn't really have sold without reinforcing. We bought VvD so you could see that as reinforcement but I'd still feel more confident of 4th with a decent goalkeeper. Maybe (assuming Klopp has no preferred target that's attainable at the moment) they were gambling on getting Keita early for a midfield berth. Hopefully Lallana regains the form he had before injury and stays fit until May.
Does it not worry you that 3 of our main 4 attacking players are major injury probsWhile I don't mourn Coutinho, we shouldn't really have sold without reinforcing. Ings
Lallana
Sturridge
Would you be happy going into next round or final few months with those as your main back up to Salah, Firmino, Mane - I think we are desperately short of someone to open the game up with skill - or a pass
Lallana looks still well off to me, Ings will be without doubt and Sturridge well he gets injured going to training.....
Just my opinion of course, but I think we might have more problems than some will think against teams who like to sit back without Phil behind those front 3
Both Ox and Adam are brilliant at the high pressing intense games, give us a game that's slower with banks of 5 and 4 and they are not half the player....
No indication that Ings and Lallana are anything like as injury prone as Sturridge, who seems in a class of his own on that one. Granted, Ings had some bad luck with some very bad injuries but he's being handled very carefully now. I don't see Lallana as an out and out forward, like Ings; more an infield attacking mid.

What are people's thoughts on moving Firmino into Coutinho's midfield position and then having Ings in the middle up top.
Would Ings get in any team in the top 5 bar us or any team probably going into the last 8 of the champs leagueIf your answer is no to that, then why are we even thinking thats acceptable - ?
nothing against Ings but we are in a position whereby we need to go to the next step you think that man is Ings then I must watch a different player (he is not st just not that player)

I do actually believe it's Klopp not having his #1 targets available but knowing they might well be available in the Summer. I don't believe the FSG moneygrabbing nonsense as Klopp is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn't hide much - so no doubt he would walk if he was unhappy. He'd have his pick of clubs tomorrow if he was a free agent.
I don't agree with his stance personally, I think we're going to struggle, but I do think its him.

Klopp has shown several times that he would rather wait and sign the player he wants than simply sign someone to keep the fans happy. And I'm very ok with that. The league is long gone this season and I doubt we'll have any bother getting a CL place so imo Jurgen is right to wait for the right player.

It's a bold statement for sure - but a fking ROFL?
I think barring City, at this stage for any fans to say CL place not a bother who's looked at the table on the last few weeks deserves a rofl yeah. I include us in that, madness to say that at the moment for any of the 'also rans'Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
