A question for anyone who might know, how difficult would it be to install electric folding mirrors to an 03 Focus ST170? I've heard some say the loom doesn't need altering but I'm completely unsure

They were only available on / fitted to the Japanese market Mk1 Focus.

Way back in the mid '00's online Ford supplier Torquesteer used to supply a complete kit including relays, loom, etc, for around £350 but it's no longer showing on their site.

The best thread that remains with pictures intact (and not shafted due to Photobucket's failed attempt at hosting extortion earlier this year) is this guide from the US Focus (focaljet) forum.

Check if those looms are susceptible to breaking! OE- fitted mirrors sometimes end up failing due to work-hardened wires/insulation. Hopefully an aftermarket solution has that worked out but no guarantees they do!
Fancy folding mirrors are really not that useful for 99.9% of the time, but finding you can't adjust your passenger mirror without walking to the other side of the car is a real ball-ache.

I've decided it's gonna be too much hassle for something so small. I probably would if it was an RS

I was gonna say, it sounds like more hassle than it's worth.

IMO it's definitely a nice looking mod in operation but in fairness it's still quicker folding them in by hand if you need to do it (It only took me a couple of seconds leaning over the passenger seat in my Mk1 FRS and I used to fold them in to get it back in the garage).

I have seen a couple of Mk1 FRS that did the mod / conversion back in '00's but it certainly wasn't massively popular. I think it had a bigger following in the US due to the JDM scene.

When I owned my mk1 frs it was one of the first mods I did. That was probably around 2004. I ordered my kit from Torquesteer. Came with whole new mirror assembly and switch if I remember rightly.
