They were in the Premier league?

They have massive attendances, a huge global fan base, if they were in the Prem their TV money would go through the roof allowing them to recruit top draw players.

To my mind within three years they would be top six.

What do others think?

Agree, they should have moved the old firm over years ago

Swansea are in the Prem and Cardiff have been.

I'd say Celtic would be top half straight away.

A far bigger club than the likes of Stoke, WBA etc and they'd be a huge draw.

I reckon they would finish 7th or 8th battling it out for the Europa spots with Man Utd & Liverpool

They would have the potential to be as big as any other club down in the premiership although they would be playing catch up.

Personally would love to see it happen, but there's nothing to suggest it will happen any time soon.

They only way I can see it happening is if there is an implosion with TV finances down south. But if that were to happen there would be no need for Celtic to move as they would then be able to compete on a financial basis. Imho.

Christ...no thanks. As a Chelsea fan, it's taken 30 years of hard work to combat bigotry and racism. And we're still not done. Other clubs have had the same battle. bks to the idea of letter those two in to the PL and dragging us back into the dark ages. They can keep their religious nonsense north of the border.

If the Old Firm derby was being played in my back garden, I'd draw the curtains and turn the stereo up.

I think Celtic would acquit themselves well, top six-ish within a few seasons as you say.

That said, Newcastle are arguably of a similar size (but with lesser global fan base) and they pay massive wages yet they suck utter balls.

They would have to spend big and realise that every game is a big game, and that they just cannot think they will just have to turn up to win

I believe that the club has persuaded its supporters to clean up their act in recent times, but I reckon playing against English clubs would rekindle the nutters. Be prepared for pro-IRA chants and songs - classy. They'd almost certainly create a new record for fines in their first year.

Who said anything about the ones in blue? I wasn't aware one couldn't come without the other!

It'll never happen anyway.

I think Celtic would do far better than anyone in England would like to admit. Outside the top few teams the league is very average and wouldn't be difficult to surpass.

Blessed with the same financial backing that comes with the vastly overinflated TV deals I'm sure most players would join Celtic ahead of most of the teams in England.

Celtic are massively held back by playing in Scotland. Teams in the English league have become big due to the marketing. Teams like Man City and Chelsea have moved up due to their outside investment.

Aren't Chelsea fans some of the most despised in the country? It's not often to hear much positive about Chelsea fans or the club.

Rangers aren't fit for the Scottish Premier league. They are in a mess and can't stand on their own feet since starting out 5 years ago.

There was some research a few years ago saying a big(ger) crowd gives you an instant 0.5 points per game before a ball is even kicked... That gives Celtic (~60k stadium) roughly ~9 points from day 1...

You can gauge Celtic's relative quality by their performance in the European Champions League... And they almost always get knocked out in the pre-stages or early rounds... Which makes them roughly similar to someone like Newcastle... Who in turn have averaged around 12th place in the Prem this century... The 12th place Prem team usually gets roughly ~45 points per season...

So... 45 + 9 = 54 points...

Celtic would just about squeeze into the EPL top-10 and bag 9th or 10th place in their first season.

Celtic are massively held back by playing in scotland.
Didnt they recently play in europe.
How did that go.
Also alluding to Rangers not being fit for the scottish premiership,is any scottish side actually fit to lace the mighty invisibles bootlaces.
Trophies are won on the park.

Given the small budget getting to the last 16 in Europe a few times in recent years is an achievement. The tough task is playing teams way below their level every week and then suddenly playing the best teams in the world.

The other issue for Celtic is the seedings in Europe. It's so heavily staggered to help the big leagues. I'm sure if English teams were in the forth pot and had teams like PSG and Bayern in their group they'd also be heading for the Europa League.

No Scottish team is remotely close to Celtic now. The gap is bigger than ever.

Trophies are won on the park. There has been lots of cheating to financial boost teams to artificial levels to win on the park.

I reckon you could pull a bloke from the pub outside the ground, stick him in charge for a season, and Celtic would still win the title ...

Every guy in the pub seems to think they know better than every manager in the world.
