Caught Speeding
Discussion
Hi,
Been caught speeding. 31 in a 20. I know I shouldn't have been but I'm a little frustrated.
Got the notice through the post today 22/11. Was caught speeding on the 24/8
I have a company car so letter went to them first. They received on 5/9 and sent my details through. So thats over 2 months before I receive notice.
Is there anything I can do or will I have to just pay it and take the points?

You haven't got a prayer of getting out of anything. Been caught speeding. 31 in a 20. I know I shouldn't have been but I'm a little frustrated.

Those roads are 20 for a reason, most of the time they're around schools and residential areas (unless you live in London). Caught by a camera or a van I presume?
Which is fine, but the road will have been a 30 a year ago and we had the least unsafe roads in the world even then and, unless I've missed some significant news, the relevant laws of physics haven't changed in that time. He's gone from law abiding citizen (well, 1mph over the old limit but close enough) to child endangering scum without actually presenting more of a danger to himself or others than he did before the limit was changed.

There is a black-ringed 20 limit around near me, so advisory, so I drive to the conditions and always below 30. However: fines are likely to be
Band A
3 points and a penalty of around 50% (between 25% and 75%) of your weekly income, applies to the lowest level of speeding offence:
21 to 30mph in a 20 limit
Band B
4-6 points or 7-28 days disqualification and a penalty of around 100% (between 75% and 125%) of your weekly income, applies to more serious offences:
31 to 40mph in a 20 limit
OUCH !

Incorrect. (nonsensical examples)
31/20 mph is a Speed Awareness Course. Otherwise, a £100 fixed penalty with 3 penalty points.
Band A-C fines only apply if court proceedings are commenced - which does not happen if the offender fulfils the eligibility criteria for a course or fixed penalty.

So correct then, for fines!
Your reply was qualified with 'likely to be ... [a fine]' when in fact a fine is the least likely thing to happen. Overall, an unhelpful contribution. I did NOT say "there is likely to be a fine"
There is a difference.

Can you take a photo of the ticket and post it on here (remove your personal details). It’d be interesting to see a ticket for 31, even if it was in a 20 limit.
You are slipping Loon,You forgot to add you will pay £100.00 to a charity of his choice (if ticket is correct) because you don't believe him.

You failed to mention a course or fixed penalty. Those are the two most likely outcomes. Why address only the least likely outcome? Probably because you read something on the internet and didn’t understand it.
Some may deal in the probable. I would prefer to think about possible. Glass half full is a fine approach if it is not your glass, and you are not paying the bar tab.
