Hi,

I have a chinese mobile phone.

I want to confirm which bands it can use as some some do not have certain bands.

If i go in settings ~ mobile networks and choose select manually.

It will list all the networks i can try and connect to.

So, if it shows o2 4g in that list, it is safe to assume that the mobile supports the band that o2 4g transmits on? (o2 4g only uses one band).

Ie only networks the mobile supports will be shown in tnat list?

Thanks

Its normally Band 20 that is missing. O2 only uses band 20 for 4G so if you're on O2 and have 4G you have band 20.

Chinese phones with band 20 are generally known as "global editions".

Thanks or the reply.

I have a global version that should support the o2 4g band.

But, i would like to check that i have been sent the corerct option.

I could get an o2 sim and try that.
However, the o2 shop iinsist i top it up, so i would have to pay £10 to check.
I have ordered a free sim from o2, but a week later have not received it, and it may need topping up to activate. Again £10.

So, the fact that it lists the o2 4g band in the mobile networks in settings - does that mean that it get's that band?
Otherwise it would not be able to even detect and list o2 4g in settings?

Are any of your colleagues or friends on o2 - maybe one of them would let you try their sim for 5 minutes to test?
Or pick up one from a supermarket for less than £1?
