:-)

Just be glad guys you don't support some of the dross out there such as....

Ps Liverpool won so that's the league done with lol
I lived through the Sexton & Docherty era. I even cheered when we won the FA Cup with Atkinson. I was ridiculed from the local Scouse supporters as that was all anyone did.

I recelledmin the early 90s SAF stuff and I loved the battles with Balckburn and the Geordies. We got walloped at times, we doshe Doug wallopings too. It was entertainment.

Me Too! I'm quite chilled at the mo because this season is what it is. It's way too early to panic. City will undoubtedly be the team to beat given the squad and confidence anyway.

It's make or break year for some of our team and quite possibly Jose. Some of the underlying issues won't be solved if he's sacked and maybe he isn't the man for us but chopping and changing yearly isn't the answer.

Jose will I think see the season out and then walk if he doesn't get 100% backing so maybe his transfer strategy will be his downfall or make him, we'll see. Personally I'd back him as it's not like we need 6 players just tweaks.
He obviously feels aggrieved Liverpool and others got backing to get who they wanted but he's also making mistakes with moaning and putting players down publicly.

I'm hopeful a weeks rest and the embarrassment will see them all up their game in time to stuff spurs just for the laughs on here lol. It will either be flooded with the tts or likea ghost town :-)

Very much. Beating liverpoo at Wembley in the FA cup and then losing to Arsenal are my defining childhood football memories, and the 78 world cup, what an era that was!

Bit of nostalgia but also to contemplate:
https://youtu.be/ajC9LWPMuMg

Look at the team on the night (bearing in mind what people are saying about the current issues):
Good keeper VDS- DDG is better
Solid CB pairing Vidic and Ferdie- rocks!
Evra at LB- fiery and could crack on down the wing- no reason Luke Shaw can't!
Wes Brown- was ok, but had his moments
Scholes and Carrick for the passing -Pogba and Fred need to show they can do this
Owen hargreaves- never did enough due to injuries
Then the absolute dream 3 scorers in Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez. Ronaldo got his 42nd goal of the season!

That team had just won the league again, and would get 3 on the trot. We absolutely ripped teams apart and the spirit and fight was at its best again.

Practically speaking there is no reason why our current team can't do the same, albeit Jose style isn't clear, ok we see that. We have quality players who don't have the fire in them at present and the spirit as a whole.
What are we lacking- 3 clear goalscorers who can make and create/ finish. We literally have Lukaku at present. And we lack the dominant CB pairing.

Times have changed yes with more quality in the prem with other teams, but the issues are clear when comparing the first teams.

Yes Fergies reign is over but I don't think any top manager would be doing a lot better with the current players we have if honest, we lack a bit of depth upfront in goal scorers and makers and we have players who are fat n lazy in work ethic this week.

Sorry I gave up reading at the point where you suggested this squad could do the same. We are nowhere near that, in fact we couldn’t be further away from it.

It’s great to reminisce but we are a poor shadow of a decent team.

Jose currently has strong support at the board level it would seem. At least the messages coming out this week are clear, Jose has stopped moaning about individuals and Pogba accepted he's been doing less well than he thought he was :-)
Roll on the next few games.

I pretty much accepted we are, but was trying to suggest the squad we have with a few tweaks and a lot more effort could be doing a hell of a lot better. 2nd place wasn't a 38 game fluke!

Not an ABU, and don't even support a Prem team but just to add Gavia, you are spot on here.

200+ Club, you're way too upbeat about United's chances this season and almost religiously fervent as to how good United are / will be. With respect, Gavia and Ord and quite a few others on here have the balance spot on, whereas IMO you're bordering on being a happy clapper. I honestly can't see United anything like through the eyes you are doing, and I have no agenda to push at all....

I think I just try and offset the mind blowing negativity on this thread some of it from utd fans, lots from wums lol :-)
Some of you guys need to chill out a Bit, worst case scenario?.. We get relegated and have a total clear out. Highly unlikely.
Most likely scenario- we finish top 6 and they have to decide at the end of the season to back him or sack him. I don't expect any trophies other than perhaps a shot at a cup. City are entirely likely to walk away with it, I'm awaiting Christmas and seeing how it's panning out with regard to Liverpool and City, and how we are doing.
No great expectations here I can assure You, just not negative and down about them after just 2 games.

Perhaps surprisingly, given that I am Mr Negative, I can see 200’s point.

We do have a lot of good players and some excellent ones. It would not take a massive change for us to suddenly look like a very good side.

All ‘ifs’, of course , but if he had got a CB, if Fred plays well and if Martial or Sanchez turns up... we would be good to challenge for that No 2 spot again this year. We are only 2-3 players short.

Cheers, that's pretty much where I'm at. If it still goes pear shaped, so be it, it wasn't meant to be with Jose. We've been overdue a clear out of some very underperforming players any way if that's what happens. Time to step up boys and earn those big bucks!

My biggest problem with Jose is that he is failing to get on with the two outfield players that could be the heart of a Man U title winning side: Pogba and Martial. He’ll be gone at the end of this season no matter what, but they are the future.

If I have to choose between our good young players and a manager that is going soon anyway, I want him out immediately. Managers come and go these days. It’s the young players that matter.

But he’s being selective moaning about just this transfer window in isolation - as it suits his agenda.

Since 2016 Liverpool net spend is 120 v Utds 300! Our gross spend is slightly higher 411 v 392 but that’s only because of the Coutinho money, without that no way would Klopp had been allowed to spend 411 gross.
I wouldn’t argue our squad was any better than yours before this period either.

Scholes has apparently touched a raw nerve by daring to criticise Pogba, his agent leaps to defend him and remind every one how many clubs are lusting after pog. That's half of today's issues, agents calling the shots rather than the club and manager.
Scholes is more than entitled to an opinion, he's forgotten more than Pogba or his agent know lol.

I'm hoping we quite quickly see Matic back and time for him, pog and Fred to gel. That has to be basis of a strong midfield plus Herrera or lingard perhaps and Sanchez/Lukaku upfront.
Smalling /Bailley as preferred CB partners?

Let's hope it's not 9 games in before we can put the strongest team out. New RB supposedly available in Sept too fingers crossed.

It's true its far too early to judge anything yet. Early season games always throw up weird results and bad performances - where we are in November / December will be much more of an indication.

The problem is though with all the negative waves around us right now a bad result was always going to tip things over the edge a bit, especially for some sections of the media who are likely salivating at the thought of a Jose meltdown (or, in the case of the Sun, dribbling). A good result against the spuds next Monday will see things much brighter going into the international break, after which hopefully we will have some of the missing players back too.

I do think it's fair though to be critical of bad performances, especially ones as bad as Sunday, even more so when they just repeat the mistakes of the prior season. Football isn't football if you can't get all worked up about it.
