I think there are two distinctions that need to be made. This season you were very effective at putting points on the board. Plus you had a much better time against the rest of the top six than previous seasons.

However I'm not sure if any one could argue that the type of football on display as improved much, if at all since Jose came in.

That's fair.

My views are well known on the thread, in that I’m pissed of with our boring style of play. However, putting that aside there’s a key message in there for the WUMers. Our football has been rubbish, we’ve been lucky in a lot of games and we’ve lost to some relegation fodder and all of the promoted teams. Despite all of this we finished above all of you, what does that say about your team?

Now Spurs, this is the team that revelled in finishing 2nd last season, but now a team finishing in 2nd doesn’t show a positive trend? Whereas your team dropping a place and all of you being convinced that you’d finish 5th is a positive result?

Scousers? Yes you walloped a lot of teams, but you also failed to win a lot too. Winning matches by 4 or 5 is great, but you have to win the games you’re drawing too. You’re still shaky at the back and if teams have a go at you then they can get some sort of result.

I reckon next year we'll win the league.

Ohh yes.

I feel like this is an opportunity for another easy £100.

You wanted trends, you’re currently on a downward trajectory if you look at cold hard facts, I know that’s a daft comment but statistically speaking that’s where you are.
You're obviously not a statistician. You can't only use just two data points, plot a line between them and then claim a statistically relevant correlation.

For those with no sense of humour.
I was kidding.

Also I thought we were on for 100 on the same terms as last year?

As far as I can tell, MUFC scored more goals and won more points than last season.

They also finished second rather than sixth.

That is considerable progress in my book.

I didn’t say it was statistically significant / relevant, I said it was a statistic, which it is in simple statistical terms tongue out
Your statement is still wrong. Statistically speaking they are not on a downward trajectory. As much as I want you to be right.

Though, if Poch does go to Real then I think you'll only be a year or two from being correct anyway. Fingers crossed.

If that happens does it follow that Liverpool might finally finish higher than Spurs in a year or two? wink

My original point before the usual PH posting was that I am not sure Jose is improving you long term. Basically no one he has brought in is in the 1st team. That's not sustainable if it continues obviously. And the style of play worked, but I think it was dropping off as the season progressed? I seem to remember quite a few 3, 4 or 5 goal wins at the start of the season, but that dropped off a lot towards the end?

For example it could all change next season, but we had a slow start, and over the season our defence tightened up a lot. With new players, time for managers to sort tactics as they know other managers etc, it might all be different, but I think (and hope) you were not properly building a team, more just getting wins when needed.

It was tongue in cheek, but putting all that aside going from 2nd to 3rd is a downward movement however we cut it. I’m not claiming it’s statistically significant, I’m not claiming it’s statistically valid, I’m just saying this year they finished lower than last year. And it’s still tongue in cheek.

The rest of my original comment wasn’t tongue in cheek and showed how concerned I am about both Spurs and Liverpool, along with potentially resurgent Arse & Chelski.

Manchester United wants Gareth Bale in the squad, but it is too costly. Is it be a right decision for Man Utd?

I hope I end up looking silly for saying this, but I think it’s all about waiting out Mourinho at the moment. He has another season.
