We’re all at Anglesey for the next two weekends if you fancy popping down.
Trackday the first weekend and racing the second?
Yes mate, Lucking Fast rides again in the endurance and we’re doing the sprints too, although in different classes this year.
Sounds good to me (race weekend).
Which classes are you both in for the sprints?
Graham still running Newcomer1000, I’m in Cup1000. Saturday is going to be busy! Two sets of qualifying, two sprint races and a 500km endurance race. Gulp!

When did the criteria for best player in the world become one that catered for a one season wonder though?

How about we take it over 18 months or 2, 3 or 4 years? In fact any period that gives a fairer view of who the best player in the world might be.

Alternately why not measure it over just their last game? That makes Bale the best player in the world by far.

Kane is in with a shout if it's over the last 4 games or so.

But to even consider salah in the same league as Ronaldo or Messi or others is just outright ludicrous as one season is not enough.

And before someone says it, no, it's not arguable I'm afraid and thats in my opinion and I suspect most other football fans.

That's why I said this season. It's the same as we measure a team. You don't say Man City are not the best team in England, because we could look at the stats over say 2 years. I'm not saying he is, just saying it is possible to argue he is (on current performance as measured over a season like most records/ points are) the best player in the world. He was constantly voted as the best player in England this season. So you'd probably have Messi and Ronaldo in Spain as some of the competition - they have had poorer seasons than they often have - perhaps getting older now?

Haven’t really slept until now... the scenes are still running through my head again and again... I'm infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff. I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down...

...As I said I'd just like to turn back the time but that's not possible. It's even worse as we all felt that we could have beaten Real Madrid and we were in the game for a long time...

...Thank you to our unbelievable fans who came to Kiev and held my back, even after the game. I don't take that for granted and once again it showed me what a big family we are. Thank you and we will come back stronger.
I don't for one second believe Karius wrote that. Marketing depts are so obvious as to be, well, obvious.

Either way, lay off the death threats and other malign postings.

Some right load of bks on here atm and imho.

It’s a shame the game turned out like it did, us and the neutrals wanted to see a free flowing exciting attacking game with the best attacking team winning. If we were to lose the best way would have been to that wonder goal by Bale.

Any decent team who turned up and played to their top of their ability might (might!) have beaten that RM side, that includes us, City, Spurs, Chelsea and others.
Similarly if RM and Ronaldo had played excellent they could have won.

The gutting thing is Ramos and Karius saw to it that we will never know, and the final we all wanted (11v11, no silly ref decisions, no silly mistakes and may the best team win) didn’t happen.

Congratulations to RM, and well done to us for getting their ahead of our rational expectations.

A nice and uplifting article in the times today on page 5 of sport which put things in perspective nicely - might pic and post if it’s not against the rules

Good post.

Havent posted until now. Disgusted on so many levels
A) I can't believe we were still in the game and hit the post at 2-1
B) An error prone keeper (more than is acceptable) will end up costing you big time, its easy to say that now but has been and was said well in advance of this game. Yet we persisted.
C) sadly when we lost Mo it was glaringly obvious how short of actual talent our bench really is (Lallana aside, but he couldn't have been match fit).

Off now to sulk for another bit.

Salah has a sprained joint according to Egyptian sources. I’d suggest this probably means that there was no dislocation, just an extension of the surrounding tissue.

I’m not surprised as a dislocation is usually very painful and he wouldn’t of come back in the pitch.

From a Spurs fan who has had a day of letting this soak in.

I have so many mixed thoughts about the game last night, as a neutral fan you hope for a spectacle and a game full of drama and for sure we certainly got that!

1. Ramos was a cheating **** and I was screaming at the telly as I knew straight away what he had done and how it would affect the game. All football fans would have felt for Mo Salah at that moment and also banked the memory for that time in the future when Ramos gets his inevitable comeuppance. We will all be waiting.

2. Bale. Astonishing. One magical moment and the pinnacle of a great career. A goal that will never be forgotten as long as the game is played.

3. Karius. For christ sakes get behind the lad - please.

4. No team in the world could have survived that series of unfortunate events, Liverpool gave it a good go and were still fighting at the end - no shame in going out that way.

The only saving grace is Klopp will have to address the goalkeeping issue now. If it wasn't for last night Karius might still have been no1 next season.
Everyone can make a mistake - I'm thinking Grobelaar - but Karius hasn't anywhere near his authority or credibility. Against Roma he flapped at a similar shot that fortunately hit the crossbar.
Talking about authority, we lack a few players with that and an edge to them- Gerrard / Keane/ Vieira, someone to take control of things and boss it. Closing a game off has been mentioned. Maybe the "team" thing has been taken too far- we need a few leaders perhaps?

Vvd is a leader, hendo isn't bad either but doesn't have sg's ability to win a game on his own

Yeah that's true. Maybe it's a bit of aggression I'm thinking of, someone to boss the game.
It's easy to sit here and criticise I know , at the end of the day they were beaten by a one off goal and two goalkeeping errors and a cynical foul.
The type of the 3 Madrid goals you'll not see in the same game again in a lifetime.

Yep - we had our chances even without Salah.

With Salah we'd likely have scored another 1-2, Mane hit the woodwoork (yes so did they..).

Our defence was solid I cant blame them for any of the goals.

Even Bale's 2nd goal yes the keep er should have saved it but theres plenty of 35 yard screamers go in at that level of football.

Irrespective of why Salah went off we lost because we didnt have a match fit quality player on the bench , along side a freak goal
