The WUM's om here are hilarious.. If we were starting the new campaign with Karius between the sticks we would be the laughing stock for all the WUM's
to continually joke about, and tell us we will never win anything with him in goal blah blah blah and then remind us every 5 mins our keeper is ste.
Then when Klopp finally gets a tiny bit ruthless and god forbid actually signs a far better keeper suddenly we are treating Karius like ste and how cruel
we have been to him, what a load of ste... Any team in Europe does the same, if a player ain't cutting it he goes straight out the door, Klopp is probably
the most forgiving of all and will always give players the benefit of the doubt ala Moreno / Lovren / Mignolet , We all knew Karius was on borrowed time
from the minute he joined he generally dropped at least one clanger per game sometimes more, Our front 3 could generally outscore his cock up's
thankfully..... I'm sure his 70-90k per week will be softening the blow for his ego, though sadly no premier league club will probably touch him with a
barge pole as he is truly unreliable and probably belongs in the championship league at best.

After the game I asked myself, how did a player normally pretty solid and not prone to making daft mistakes, cock it up so badly.
I'm not sure it was a case of 'pretty solid' - his mistakes just hadn't been punished - I think he made two v Spurs that were and he got bked for those. But these weren't daft positioning errors a 'keeper may make once or twice a season, they were bread and butter shots he punched instead of caught, which any bloke off the terraces could do tbh, and split second decisions which he hasn't learned from ... and has repeated.Any first team game time he gets is an accident waiting to happen - he needs a change of team and environment to fully recover and to learn some of the basics of goalkeeping ... (like catching the fecker) ...
rather than catch, Its as though he never served his apprenticeship and never understood the basics.

I think there's no doubt that Karius isn't good enough for Liverpool I also think there's no doubt the fall out could have been handled with a bit more dignity.
I agree.A bottle of good malt and a revolver.
Edited to make absolutely clear I am joking and not in anyway suggesting suicide was a suitable outcome.

Good post if you look back at some of the games we won he always made some crazy decisions, His positioning was god awful.. He always likes to punch
rather than catch, Its as though he never served his apprenticeship and never understood the basics.
apparently these balls move about a bit so catching is too hard (!!!!) so I don't mind punching if you punch into row Z or to the half way line, its the patting into your own six yard box which is plain daft, which he keeps doingrather than catch, Its as though he never served his apprenticeship and never understood the basics.
It's not just us who seem to make a botch of signing people/ announcing them.

Sturridge set to stay, apparently.

When fit and motivated, he's class... and he's looked decent in the pre-season stuff I've seen. If he stayed like that for a full season he's be a brilliant back-up striker.
Could be it's just no one has come and offered us anything for him, of course.

Glad he's staying. Don't care if he leaves on a free. He only cost £12m anyway!
No disrespect to the teams outside the top 6 but he has way too much class for them.
A fit Sturridge with no pressure to start week in week out could be a godsend for us when things aren't going well or Bobby needs a rest.
He's such a natural finisher, one of the top strikers in the league when he was in his prime.

And for what we’d get for him given contract and injury history, we’d never be able to get a replacement of his quality. No disrespect to the teams outside the top 6 but he has way too much class for them.

I've watched the last few pre season games and whilst he is still a great finisher, it pains me to say that he looks like he's lost 5 yards of pace.
I couldn't believe how slow he looked when sprinting at times.
Hopefully if we can bring him on in the last 20 minutes or so to give Bobby a break he can play the way the team does and just give his all and chase down balls/press defenders.

I doubt he actually runs as fast as he can any more because of the injury risk. The thing with Sturridge is that he's not a one trick pony; he also has great feet, good touch and a range of passing. However, he'd struggle in Klopp's 4-3-3 playing at full pace. Other times he could be very useful though. I wanted him to do well on loan at WBA last season but that lasted about 20 minutes.I couldn't believe how slow he looked when sprinting at times.
