We all know any new signing is a risk.
Even established players might not perform as before, might pick up a career ending injury first match out.
What we have to go on is their ability and performance before coupled with the manegment teams assessment they'll fit into the side and epl.
Let's have a little faith Eh.

Thing is, if you read back what I wrote there wasn't an argument - Just a cautionary note. The response to that contained numerous references to points I'd never made, per desolate's pictoral reference, and a sprinkling of assumptions. Then something about not posting if you're not going to agree.
I remember being optimistic about Robbie Keane.

Plus, Mario, Downing, Diouf.........Then something about not posting if you're not going to agree.

Me too.
Quite like the informed posts. Neither Keita or Allison look like duffers although granted either could have a mistake in them. Bearing in mind the likely sales targeting 100m, not a bad return on our outlay. First time for a few years our bench will have a few options.
Not sure our sales will reach that. One thing we always seem to assume each year (apart from the team being the strongest in many years, which we posted in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and this year for sure, ) is that we will sell some of the poorer players. Markovic has been for sale for something like 3 seasons now and is not gone despite some loans, so just see his contract running out. Sturridge probably is not being sold due to his combination of injury/ no one wil risk his high salary. But we can afford it so it's ok.Quite like the informed posts. I think most said Mario was the wrong person for the team, but hoped he would work out. I remember there was just the one poster who got excited and said he'd be a great signing, rather than hoping a panic signing worked out.desolate said:
I'll own up.
I thought Hodgson was a good appointment and a safe pair of hands in the circumstances.
I also thought Jari Litmanen was going to be the 2nd coming.
I will hold my hand up and agree with both of those. Litmanen was a great player - just not quick enough for the Prem, as it turned out. And Hodgson WAS generally seen by quite a few as a safe pair of hands at the time. Until he opened his mouth telling everyone mid table would be an achievement...I thought Hodgson was a good appointment and a safe pair of hands in the circumstances.
