Since I've attached the TB16 to my XPS 9550, the trio of CPU + GPU + TB chip is producing enough heat to have my fans making me mad (and I'm not a gamer!).

Thus I'm looking for some cooling solution to fight it. The issue I see is that XPS' air vents are located at the bottom, so any classical pad that blows the air into laptop bottom, won't work here and may actually do more harm than good.

Most likely some sort of air sucking solution would fit better, but I can't find any...

Update: My question has been resolved and I got the answer from this article: https://trickiknow.com/best-cooling-pads-laptop-im...

You would be better get over locking software and running fans all time. Get a lap top stand to raise it up on the desk.

Are you sure the Dell expels the air through the bottom?

Most laptops have vents on the bottom, but the fan extracted air is expelled to the side.

If yours really does expel to the bottom, then why not get a normal cooling fan pad and flip it over. That should have the effect of reversing the air flow of the pad.

On XPS15 9560, air goes in at the bottom, and out (generally upwards!) between keyboard and hinge. I'm sure yours will be the same...
