Has anyone been bothered enough to read the premise behind it? I know there is some tie to the European Championship but if we finish bottom of our Group of 3 what happens? Do we fail to qualify, or get relegated? What if we finish top, or second? There doesn’t seem to be any ‘must win game’ hysteria going on in the press, so I guess it’s all a bit meaningless?

I think qualification position affects our seeding in the next competition. TBH I don't think it makes a massive difference, but then I don't think having an easy group is necessarily beneficial.

Yes, I've read it. It's not meaningless, but then if you'd bothered to read up about it, you'd know that.

I must admit as soon as i hear anything about international friendlies i go into snooze mode.

If these friendlies do actually mean anything then how are we going to see new players play for England ? Southgate will just play the same lot that got us into the world cup semi's game in game out if fit.

I really cannot see why we don't just get shot of these 2 week breaks, finish the season early april then have 5-6 weeks of intentional tedium then start again in August.

Sterling SMASHES it what a goal bloody genius. 15 minutes after they were saying how few shots he has on target girl England.

Stunner.

Great finish - reminiscent of Owen Vs Argentina in 98!.

Now a bit of Rashford! Irresistible!

My highlight so far. Ramos has had that coming (for about 15 years).

Excellent first 30 minutes, exactly what a young team under a new culture of self belief can do. They’re going to get beat along the way but how refreshing.
