Not just for this incident but I just think in general linesmen are a bit too eager to call offside these days when the guidance clearly states, if it's too close to call and the lino isn't sure, they should be giving attackers the benefit of the doubt.
Under normal circumstance that's true. But it's at the Kop end and it's Fulham. The attackers should know this and be a least a yard onside.
Why take the risk?

The current offside rules are a joke - considering how complex they are and how fast the game is I am surprised how well the officials do.Even in that picture there is a Fulham player standing well "offside" just near our left back. He is obviously not offside under the current rules but given the angles how is the linesman supposed to accurately judge his position and in reality he is interfering with play as I can't see how are left back isn't affected by him.
For the record, Fulham can feel hard done by. But that's football and the little controversies like that are what keeps everyone talking about the game. It would be boring if every decision was incontrovertible and binary in nature.

Besiktas want Loris Karius on a permanent transfer. They do not intend to send him back to Liverpool.
Club president Fikret Orman: "Karius is an excellent keeper, God willing we will sign him on a permanent transfer.
"Give Karius some time is all I'm saying."
Thank fk for that. Club president Fikret Orman: "Karius is an excellent keeper, God willing we will sign him on a permanent transfer.

You also have the contradiction that Robertson is not interfering with play either, but his position is taken into account still.Even in that picture there is a Fulham player standing well "offside" just near our left back. I think it would be better if the rules makers were to sit down and work out what the off-side rule is for and then whether there's a better way to achieve it's aims.

You win some - Fulham.
You lose some - Arsenal.
Then we rant about it for a week afterwards.
That's football.

I'd be happy if it was all left as it is. Technology will ruin the game. Salah doesn't score that breakaway goal if we had var.

Agreed. I have never been a fan of technology in football. Football is a simple game; just a ball and four jumpers is all that is needed. All this VAR and goal line tech... for me it 'spoils' what should be a relatively simple game. Maybe I am just old school. You win some - Fulham.

Money talks, sadly. What next - digital refs? We are taking the emotion out of football. We'll have nothing to debate about, nothing to moan about and we'd have no WUM's!!

Weeks? try relentlessly for months on end with you lot You win some - Fulham.

I agree with the sentiment though, it doesn't even work! no matter what we have been told by those with a vested interest during the world cup there were just as many wrong decisions as there were right ones...
Look at the Rugby in the last two weeks, two games both decided in the last min by VAR both wrong decisions that changed the outcome of the game.
Also one of the reasons football is the most popular games in the world and is played the world over, is that its simple, the same rules apply when i play on a sat morning, when African kids do at a school break time as when messi and ronaldo line up in el classico.
Just leave the beautiful game alone ffs.
Sorry rant over.
Some good analysis about our pressing game this season:

Or lack thereof.
I didn't realise Can had more goals and assists than Gini, Milner and Hen do put together last season.
Never knew why you got rid of him. OK he was a bit lazy but he was by far your most talented midfielder after Coutinho left. Ox is injured long term too so you are now left with some bang average midfielders and a couple of new one's who MAY come good at some point but not really delivered the goods yet. Personally I'd be sticking Shaqiri in as a number 10 behind you front 3 all the time. At least he gives you some decent attacking flair in midfield without which you are left with sideways pass specialists who give you little penetration and make it harder to get your front 3 involved in the game.

I don't think we did get rid of him, he wanted the move and got the big money at a top team. From what I know we offered him a decent deal.Personally I'd be sticking Shaqiri in as a number 10 behind you front 3 all the time.
