I still don't rate Mane or Shaq. Why do you think he ended up a Stoke? You picked him up as a squad player and scored 2 deflected goals.
laugh

Well Arnautovic ended up at Stoke too, he'd walk into your team on January 1st.

So Martial, who sat on your bench for 80 mins, is better than Mane who started and scored the opening goal (which was world class btw) past your best player with ease?

Ok.

Yes he is. It’s irrelevant that our clueless fkwit of a manager keeps sticking with Donkey and leaves him on the bench.
FWIW, I rather rate Mane and thought he took advantage of the piss-poor defending very well for his single meaningful contribution today.

Yeah manes run and shot/cross that lead to our second wasn't worthwhile at all...

Obviously Bobby sucks too. And our one season wonder.

Want to know how to win games and get points? Play as a fking team, support each other and work together. It doesn't matter if your players are not all the best in the world individually, there's 11 of them on the pitch at the same time and they need to cooperate.

That improves them all, when one has a bad day the others take up the slack. When players who've barely seen a ball get starts they play up to the level of the team.

st talking your own players, destroying their confidence and not giving them a clue what the plan is obviously working out well.

So basically the same as what most Utd fans have been saying since the season took shape then yea? :-)

Don't get me wrong, pool are playing very very well at long last, and coincidentally right as we are in a terrible slump, but you surely need to hope you actually win the league this year or feel you've proper "shot your bolt" so to speak, doing an awful lot of shouting before the fat lady has sung...

Be interesting to look back at the end of this season, looks like City/pool might go to the wire and see who blinks first.
Meanwhile we just have to sit and see what pans out now. Read some interesting and obviously knowledgeable comments from G Nev tonight, well said.

I put that forward in here pre season and got shot down, apparently it was all going to magically come good game 1. Lol.

As for pool and the epl, I still think we're only 2nd fav, and we've ridden our luck a little, now we are performing better but have injuries to deal with. If we're still fighting for 1st last couple weeks of the season that'll do, huge improvement in a young side likely to challenge for a few years now

What I found really strange and different about the match yesterday was how much space Liverpool players had in the United half.

Liverpool players were able to receive simple passes to feet with their backs to goal then turn around and run or play another forward pass.

I don't remember seeing anything like that before. It was like United used zonal marking for the entire match.

Got to question the desire of players too.
One moment in second half players casually trying to defend only Rashford sprinting to try and tackle.

You need someone like Klopp- who needs time to change everything- so of course it is possible.

Dear Santa,

Please listen to my plea - I've been a good boy all year as long as you don't take the pheasants into consideration. I don't want anything too valuable or glittery, just please stop Liverpool from winning the title.
I wouldn't ask without clearing up why I want this - even after my team's dominance in that 20 year period we are only a couple of titles clear and it is looking more and more like we won't be winning another for a long while.
Help me Santa Claus, you're my only hope,

Martial is a decent player, really good actually, but he's nowhere near Mane's level.

If you think he is then fair enough, he might improve with age, but he'll probably have to leave your club first.

You could've actually given us a game yesterday, and before kickoff I was worried that you would have a go at us and our makeshift defence.

Then I saw Mata, Pogba and Martial sat on the bench, and 7 defenders walking around on the field.

It was an unnecessarily embarrassing performance by utd.

You're not suddenly in a slump now, you've been in it for basically 6 seasons almost.

Despite what other fans like to say very few Liverpool fans expect to win the PL. We're just happy we've had out very best league start in our history, and look to have a good squad and manager. Same goes for trophies. We're not going to get rid of Klopp if we don't win anything this season. That's all other fans saying it, same as we apparently will win the league. So you can then laugh if we drop off and call us arrogant, despite us not saying it.

Liverpool supporter here with no attempt to wind you up.

Giving Mourinho the contract extension was the worst thing your board could do, as said by Neville last night.

He has history in his third year which shows he isn't a long term project ;

Real Madrid
Falls out with Ramos and Casillas. Goes ahead and says the player "maybe thinks that he knows everything and that the coach cannot improve him anymore'' about Ronaldo.

Ronaldo continues to be arguably the best in world at the time and then Real Madrid go and win the champions league 4 times out of the next 5 seasons.

Chelsea
1st season. Transition. 2nd season. Wins the league after Costa, Fabregas and Courtois signings. 3rd season. 9 losses out of 16 games before Christmas.

Now Man Utd
1st season. Signs Pogba for £90m, Mikhitaryan for £40m, Bailly for £34m and gets Ibrahimovic on a free, one of the best strikers in the world.
Wins the League Cup and Europa league yet ends up 6th.
Transition made after spending £160m+ on a spine?

No. Ibrahimovic is 35 and the Premier League is an intense league. Mikhitaryan gets moved on for Sanchez.

2nd season. Lukaku is signed for essentially £90m because who would pay for Rooney? An aging Matic for £40m and another centre back in Lindeloff for £31m.

So now there is a spine. The best GK in the world. two centre backs. A brilliant defensive midfielder along with the £90m star signing who has been brilliant at Juventus and one of the best strikers in the world. Supported by a potentially world class player in Martial, a brilliant attackind mid in Sanchez.

Season outcome 2nd place in the league no trophies. Points that probably would have won it if Man City weren't a side that the premier league have rarely ever seen. Sounds like Chelsea after the players bought.

3rd season. Signs Fred (who?! was that a board signing?) for £53m and a RB for £20m.
Kind of a replay of Madrid but with the results of Chelsea. Falls out with the star signing/ player with the most potential in the squad. £90m striker also gets a spell out the team. Alexis Sanchez gets benched as Mourinho doesn't know where he belongs in the starting 11.
De Gea, the world class goalkeeper shows doubts that he ever was the worlds best goalkeeper the previous couple of years.

Where to now? Emery has shown that you can manage a side that has performed badly for the previous manager.

Who would manage Man Utd right now with a view to staying 5 years and laying a foundation whilst also achieving results?

Zidane?
Simeone?
Enrique?
Pochettino? It'll take a pay off to Mourinho then to Spurs won't it?

Can a manager even stay in the premier league these days whilst performing at the top level? Is it a stress inducing job that makes managers think short term and success with their name rather than the club they are under?

All I know is it isn't as easy as Alex Ferguson made It seem. it would be interesting if he was managing in 2018, at his prime. How would he do?

Well, guess what? The writing has been on the wall for longer than weeks and months, but you lot just chose to ignore it.

As recently as last week someone posted on here that utd were as good as spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool.

We had 36 shots yesterday, albeit most of them were rubbish, but still the most in the league. The only team to have near that this season was City when they played Huddersfield.

Let that sink in, I have plenty more 'insight' if you're interested smile

Arsenal (my team) were even worse regarding contracts, they're still paying Wenger £8.5 million this season due to giving him a 2 year contract 18 months ago, it was blatantly obvious the team was going nowhere at the time.
Regarding Manchester United it's down to Mourinho making bad signings which to be fair to him most people would've thought adding people like Pogba and Sanchez would vastly improve a team, it hasn't though so the buck stops with him.

Imagine if it was the other way around, and the special one got the better of Klopp yesterday?
