The front line seems sorted enough ignoring Lukaku, especially if Martial can find his shooing boots.

That back line though.....if Rojo, Smalling or Bailey aren't the answer then we've got to be in the market for a CB...

Thought Herrera did well too. But as you said, that defence will likely never win you leagues. Lukaku was useless.

In all fairness i have congratulated you & you're team on here today.

Hurts like hell but it is what it is.

Pants man was very bullish before the game I saw and was quite unkind about our quality and Uber confident of a win. Sadly he doesn’t feel it appropriate to be complimentary now that we’ve probably ruined any hope of winning the league you had. Although there is light at the end of the tunnel we play both City and Liverpool again this season and can do a job on both.

He's absolutely shocking. He has no skill at all. He's big and strong and only occasionally good at heading or kicking the ball in. Why we swapped Martial for him in that game is beyond me, we might as well have just taken Martial off and played with 10 men. If I was Ole I'd be selling him as fast as I could. He makes Fellani look skilful! (And he should also go).

Lingard, Rashford and Martial have so much skill but are faster and can score goals.

Lukaku can't have taken the decision to bulk up on his own, it's a bit weird.

Agree with the above though, no reason to keep him. Fellaini just had a new contract so probably too expensive for what he is, would like to see him, Sanchez and Lukaku go. I'm not sure we'd even need to find "squad" replacements with the youth/McTominay, just sort the defense out, and I can't work anything out of the current mess apart from letting fragile Rojo go and we need "some others".

Lukaku was poor when he came on, he’s so big and cumbersome and all he does is jump up and flick the ball on with his head to nobody...then looks about like someone should have been there. Bizarre.

It’s great to see us moving forward with pace and movement with Martial, Rash, Pogba and Lings. Lukaku does NOT fit that mould.

Smalling and Rojo should be shipped out and a top class centre back brought in if we’re going to make a push next season. Would love us to put an audacious bid in for Kane too hehe

McT is awful. He’s not the answer. We need to spend if we’re aiming to win the league, rather than keep in touch with 4th place.

Lukaku won’t be sold. He’s still quite young and somebody will work closely with him in an effort to get him sharper. There’s good competition for places now. The boys must be buzzing.

As helpful as the result was, and as amusing as the meltdown from the spuds posters is I preferred it when you were st.

To be fair the players were conserving energy at that time and he was up on his own. He needs to work at it but I’m not giving up on him yet.

He certainly has ability, and scored goals for Belgium. Just needs to work on his touch and movement. At times he looked decent for Everton driving in from out wide.

As a target man he is useless.

Just sat savouring the moment...

Anyone know where old mikey74 is being treated for shock, might send him some flowers, he's been absent for ages, think his ticker can't take all this topsy turveyness.

Great spirit, we aren't the best by a long way but teamwork and fight are back. What a season of 2 halves hopefully. Keep the team broadly as it is and keep it up OGS , you may well get another season or two yet.
Scousers and us learned that there’s no divine right to keep winning stuff. He may well want to learn that lesson. He’s not the only troll that’s gone AWOL recently.
Anyone heard from Delta as well? Seems to disappeared for a while.

I'm happy this season as we're safe. Next year I hope they get crap again though, biggrin

He looks useless though, more someone for a team that lumps set pieces into the box. He'll cost you too many points for all the other parts of the game that he doesn't offer which someone else could. Still, that's good for us, hehe

Just takes a few new players who are decent. Look at us, one of the worst defences in the league. Then replaced Moreno with Robertson and more importantly got in VvD and now it's solid. There should be enough quality that not all need to go if you can get someone decent and the rest trust each other. Easier said than done though.

Someone like Koulibaly in defence and a decent replacement for Lukaku and this team could be right in the mix for the title next season.
They have that in Rashford with Martial and Sanchez as back up
They need CB,RB and a new CM ahead of a lukaku replacement

Sanchez and Lukaku should be sold/offloaded. They've not shown themselves to be reliable source of goals in any way. Martial and Rashford will be quality, but they need an experience striker to play off and learn from.

CM? Who you thinking can improve what's already there that's available?

Dalot seems to be future RB, totally agree on CB, could buy three! Lindelof needs more time but starting to look good, Bailly, jury out, Jones is just, well, Jones (our family had a side bet on him giving a pen or og away today) and Smalling as cover.

If we are honest we are actually back.exactly where most Utd fans assumed we would be this yr, hoping for 4th or 3rd at best if we push on. We didn't strengthen well from last season.
The first part of the season was a joke as Jose circus took over. We'll still have defensive issues until it's sorted and some players must leave this summer I guess.

There's hope and optimism now and I suspect they will turn over one or two top teams yet this yr. The hard part cones this summer, OGS or AN Other and who do we sign. We can challenge again and in a decent time frame if no one forgets what's needed.

Massive result for united today.
I’m sure Mike Phelan deserves a lot of credit for our resurgence aswell as Ole.
I really hope Ole gets offered the job now.im a big fan of pochettino, and have wanted him to be manager for a long time-however Ole is Utd through and through (so is phelan)and the results so far are speaking for themselves

Agreed especially about Phelan. But the players must take the most credit. They’ve really knuckled down and are working really hard to get the results we need.

As a diehard United fan it would be fantastic to have Ole at the wheel moving forward. The vibes are brilliant at the moment. We will lose a game some time soon but Ole is storing up so much credit that most of us probably can’t see him doing any wrong. A lot of other teams fans would love I’m sure to have one of their own in charge. It’s a great feeling.

Agreed.

If that had been Woodward going into the Spurs dressing room..... :-)
