If there was a company like Singer that existed for BMW M cars, what would you commission?

I'd dearly love the funds to have an LCI E60 M5 in interlagos blue, fitted with a DCT 'box and modernised EDC cloud9

Isn't there someone in the US who has fitted the DCT box from the E90 M3 to the E60 M5?

It would either be ETA Motorsport or Redish I reckon.

Funnily enough, I'm slowly making my M3 a 'restomod', albeit a self-built item.

There are loads of combinations which I'd like to try, however, I think the top spot would be a RHD E30 M3 with the engine and manual gearbox from an E9* M3.

BMW actually built that, google M5 CSL (no, I've not been smoking crack tonight)

Great minds think alike though, however mine would be an E61 M5 in Interlagos Blue / Silverstone full leather, DCT would be nice but I could actually live with SMG again so long as it was warrantied.

You might enjoy this build blog then

For me one of their earlier cars would be the sweet spot, the S85 V10 powered e46 M3

I'd have to say an E46 M3 / CSL with a stroked S85 V10 to 5.7L/5.8L with 6 speed manual.,,,supercharged for good measure too smile

Same in an E30 M3 too I'd say. (I have one and am desperately trying not to do something stupid to it).

My E39 M5 is awaiting an engine rebuild and is supercharged, so I am quite happy with that one as it is, albeit when the engine has been rebuilt. Although I do like the above suggestion of the F90 engine in an E39 M5 and looking totally stock of course.

E24 M6 with an S63 ?

E21 3 series with a S50B32 or CSL lump ?

The list is essentially endless I'd say.

E34 M5 3.8, I think they get it about right first time round so I’d like one restored in black with black interior.

If we’re able to do non M cars I’d have my 645 supercharged, lsd, 8 speed autobox and a newer version of Idrive. Essentially a new 2005 6 series with a third more power but the same lazy delivery.

Apparently there is a dct kit going to be available in the UK for the S85. Under £2k I am led to believe. You'll need to buy the box etc still though.

I assume you'd be going for the anthracite alcantara and M-Sport cloth rather than black leather?

Although I'd happily have another e34 M5 in any guise - even a Dakar Yellow one. - but I'd want the 4-seat option with humidor or mini-fridge in the centre armrest, electric rear blinds, etc.

Hmm, hadn't thought about the cloth option really. Leather looks nice and I've had it in an awful lot of cars now, but it is always too hot or cold while not being grippy for driving fast. I suppose the best mix was in a 330ci with half leather, nice slidey bolsters to make getting in and out easy (and reduce wear on the seats) with a grippy bit in the middle.

Rear blinds I'm unconcerned by, I like the idea of the 4 seat option and fridge though.

My only E34 was a 525i, I loved it but there were too many small issues culminating in a very large bill so I had to offload it. Still the best looking 5 series in my view though.

Alcantara/cloth option was available in Silver Grey or Anthracite - cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and much grippier on track.

E24 M6 with twin-turbocharged V8 and six speed manual gearbox, c600bhp

E34 M5 Touring with supercharged 3.8 straight six and six speed manual, c550bhp

E36 M3 Cabriolet with an n/a V8 and semi-automatic gearbox, c450bhp.

E26 M1 with a blueprinted n/a V10 and seven speed manual gearbox, c700bhp

All the above to have traditional shock/spring suspension without electronic trickery, lsd's, and near to original interiors but with integrated modern bluetooth, nav, heated this-that-and-the-other and much, much, much better rust protection.
