That's suggesting to me that "hate crime" occurred at around 1-in-10 football matches in the 19/20 season.

Read that again.

That's equivalent to a hate crime at one match every single weekend of the Premiership season.

I'm sure you can find the same stats for the other sports you take aim at.

I'm sure it's just "a few bad apples".

When will football stop apologising for the dregs of society?

At 100% of England home Rugby Union matches the crowd sing a song with a racial element that makes at least 1 black player uncomfortable. Disgusting. rolleyes

C70R was definitely kicked in or his old man was at a football game when he was younger, surely the only explanation?

And England Rugby's response to this is to review it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epb04arDa44

Football's response to persistent racism and hate crimes? Oh, it's "just a few bad apples".

Football's response to persistent fan violence? Oh, it's "just a few bad apples".

You're really not having the effect you think you are on this discussion, sadly.

I've never personally experienced any violence or hate directed at me at a football match.

Except perhaps the time I had the misfortune to sit near the away fans when visiting White Hart Lane with a Spurs supporting friend.

Then I had the persistent distraction of a group of 20-30 middle-aged men who spent 90min facing directly towards the home fans and trying to encourage them to fight. Quite what these morons thought was actually going to happen is beyond me. What a waste of a ticket.

As usual, the people around them did nothing to dissuade them. Classic football.

It's really unfortunate that the "tiny minority" always seem so easy to find, isn't it?

Oh.

You didn't have the sound on when you were watching the Twitter video, did you?

You immediately assumed I was talking about social-distancing/COVID, didn't you?

I don't think C70R was referring to how close people were to each other. But good effort with the whataboutery.

You’re right, I watched without sound. It’s not easy to work out but sounds like ‘No German Bombers In The Air’? Bit like ‘2 World Wars And One World Cup’ if we play Germany.

Football fan apologists are absolute masters at whataboutery.

This Twitter thread is a beautiful example: https://twitter.com/FA/status/1403804301453971456

It’s more sowhatery from me. I wouldn’t want to spend any time with those guys but they’ll only upset the serially offended imo.

It’s a So What from me.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

It's the same sort of offensive, xenophobic stuff that gets sung outside of Centre Court at Wimbledon.

I'm probably just being a snowflake.

Scummy people, emboldened by the herd mentality, and not deterred by the persistent, pathetic rhetoric from the authorities.

What an absolute shambles of a sport.
OK - Lets say you're suddenly promoted to the head of the FA. What's the 1st thing you'd change or implement ?
So this has run and run, with C70R saying how bad football is. Yet I never got an answer to this Q and I don't think he's once come up with a plan to change things for the better. So....is it easier to snipe from the sidelines ? scratchchin

I don’t think C70R has even identified a problem.

He linked to some England fans dancing & singing a song about German airplanes. OK the song was in bad taste but what harm was done?

I guess. What else would you expect when a bunch of patriotic sports fans get together? Right?

I'm thinking back to when we saw this exact behaviour on Henman Hill a few years back.
https://twitter.com/muforever79/status/14058328258...

Oh, wait, no. That's right, it's only football which endorses this kind of mindless thuggery.

I bet it's that same "tiny minority" again. Busy folks.
