The Official Tottenham Hotspud thread [Vol 12]
Discussion
His actual quote (I don't know what question he was asked):
Poch said:
I am not in charge and I know nothing about the situation of my players. I am only coaching them and trying to get the best from them. Sell, buy players, sign contract, not sign contract – I think it is not in my hands, it’s in the club’s hands and [chairman] Daniel Levy
Make of that what you will.TEKNOPUG said:

Yes no maybe.
Juve need to sell as they have spent massively over the last few years and are hugely in debt and facing a real prospect of failing FFP. So I think Spurs were interested in Dybala if they could nick him at £45m but not at £80m. Utd obviously have more money so happy to pay full price, whereas Spurs probably don't think he represents value at that price. Juve didn't accept Spurs' bid, so I'd hardly suggest that Utd have somehow stolen him.
By the sounds of it, were having a straight swap with Lukaku. I know which end of the deal I prefer Juve need to sell as they have spent massively over the last few years and are hugely in debt and facing a real prospect of failing FFP. Every manager would love Messi but you don't give the manager the cheque book and tell him to fill his boots.
I trust Levy, he's way more important than Poch - he's delivered a state-of-the-art £1bn stadium with training facilities to match - he's actually done the equivalent of buying Messi in terms of bricks and mortar.
Poch is smart enough to know that every word he says is important and this must be sending a message of sorts. Whether that is a message to Madrid or a message to Spurs fans, he's not stupid and knows that it will be reported.
I personally think he's just being clear about his role so that he covers himself in the event of a weakened team for this season, but thats a hypothesis rather than any knowledge

What you want is the manager/football director identifying players and the owner/accountant/others trying to get them at a price the club can afford.

Bricks and mortar doesn't win trophies though.Every manager would love Messi but you don't give the manager the cheque book and tell him to fill his boots.

No put the extra revenue will give them more of a chance of competing There's also the allure to potential future targets of playing in that stadium as opposed to the old White Hart Lane and training every day at Hotspur Way.
But yes, the extra revenue is not to be sniffed at. Apart from the increased ticket sales we're making £800,000+ every matchday in our bars and restaurants alone. As a comparison Man City (for example) make £150,000.

And city only make that because mansoor stands outside giving away £50 notes to the ten people attending the game There's also the allure to potential future targets of playing in that stadium as opposed to the old White Hart Lane and training every day at Hotspur Way.
