If you are talking about in Premier League history...I am not even sure he makes the Top 10!

Probably the best at the moment though, that's a given.
Nobody said that he was already the best ever - I did say that in my opinion if he carries on in the same trajectory then he will be.

We already look tired and have Crystal Palace on Thursday then Semi Final against Chelsea on Sunday... while Chelsea have 5 days off....

Can’t surely start the same squad again against CP?? Or is that more important than FA Cup??

Needless to say I can’t see us winning both of those games ...

Palace are starting to tire now; the organised approach is dropping off.

Palace haven't got anything to play for now so hopefully shouldn't be too troublesome, but it will be interesting to see if he starts with Bruno and Pogba again as they both looked tired last night!

Best player of all time despite never winning anything, presumably?

Southampton didn’t really...

Think you’ve got to start with the front 3 and maybe give Mata and Fred some game time..

I think VVD is on target to be regarded as the best defender to play in the Premier League era.
Too early to be drinking.
He's the best if you ignore all the other good ones.
Who is better?
Kompany for one, VVD will equal him if he continues at his current level for a few more seasons IMHO

David May debunks your theory.

Who is better?
Rio, Vidic, Terry, Kompany, Campbell.

That's not to say he won't go on to be better than some of them, but as it stands he's miles behind.

Chuck Tony Adams and maybe even Steve Bruce in there too!

Being as good as Kompany was and knowing the position better than any of us do, id hazard a guess he knows a little more than us to about CBs and how good they are.

Didn't Xavi say that Scholes was the best CM ever?

Glad you agree he's better than Gerrard then (which has changed from your original post just a few posts above).

Pele said Nicky Butt was the stand out player in the 2002 World Cup. Players say things.

Good job Kompany isn’t a mad blue ,otherwise one could argue his view is slightly tinted .

Rio, Vidic and Stam were different class from all other CBs I have seen.

Vidic could sometimes be rash and wasn’t quick on the turn. But he won almost literally every header in the box, making it largely pointless to cross against us.

Rio was simply too good for strikers in his prime. The same goes for Stam.

A point to remember is that Rio played most of his games in a side that didn’t do much defending, leaving it to him to defend the goal almost single-handedly. Liverpool are a pretty defensive side, so the CBs get loads of help and protection.

Don't like the way the fixtures have been dealt out. We looked leggy against Southampton as is and were supposed to pay Chelsea who get an extra few days rest
