Meh. A well deserved 0-0 from both teams on a dismal evening.

On the bright side we seem to have cut out the stupid errors from the players, and Cavani will give us something different for sure. Clean sheet too.

Not sure what VDB has to do to get a game though, surely he would have been more effective starting than James or Mata managed to be. Oh well. First home point of the season.

That was crap. From start to finish. I don’t think either keeper touched the ball for the first 30minutes and can’t remember anyone even trying a shot.

Two teams who set out to get a point and made little effort to win the game. I was amazed when I saw the number of attempts and think that anything that involved a ball dribbling through somewhere vaguely in the direction of the goal was being counted.

Pathetic from both teams.

Just to add, it was a nailed on penalty from Maguire and yet he’s the one who needs a central defence partner! bks, I’d say Lindelof is the one who deserves the position and he needs a partner.

WTF does Van De Beek have to do to get a game? That was crying out for some ingenuity rather than Scott “FFS don’t give me the ball” McTominay and Fred “15 touches to control the ball”.

I don’t think we were that bad. We had a couple of chances and could have snuck a win. What James is doing in the squad, let alone in the starting 11 is beyond me. He’s always terrible.

No errors, tight defence, disappointing result though. Can’t believe Chelsea and Lampard shut up shop.

DVB is on a strength programme apparently but I’d like to see more of him. Maybe midweek.

Proper Manchester day up here indeed. I don’t think it’s stopped raining all day.

Get Evra back at Carrington please.

One thing I think we can all be sure of is Cavani will bag is many goals.

Greenwood looked very lively and hungry.

And like everyone else Why TF is James even in the squad. It’s infuriating. Since last September how many goals and assists has he had?? Wow he can run fast

I agree on Cavani he’s going to be a great signing. Greenwood looks like he’s got hours on the ball when he gets it, he’s clearly the real deal.

Not sure James is going to make it

A lot of people shouting about VDB online without knowing any facts. There will be good reason hes not been thrown in fully and why we are resting him a lot.
James does look a shadow of his former self, poss time for him to step back now Cavani appears fit and let's hope Telles hasn't got a knock and was being rested.
Looking forward to midweek now the defence is playing tighter.

The entire defence played well today, Lindelof was excellent, given Werner’s pace Maguire coped, Shaw looks chunky again but we didn’t concede and AWB has clearly had positioning when defending left hand crosses drilled into him.

(their) sorry couldn’t resist wink

I was happy with our defence -apart from Harry’s strangle hold on azpilicueta!!
How on earth was that not a penalty?

Re James, we have form on continuing to play attackers that are or have become terrible: see Jesse and Sanchez. Both nowhere near good enough for dozens of games. James is the new Jesse.

Agree for once Ord, he's not yet made the grade. Promising start last year then not much since, and he's lost confidence. He should be the super sub we bring on, not the starter.
I like the fact Ole has put pogba in place by benching him, and also stuck by Maguire to support him as needed.
With Telles and Cavani fit and working well it will be a different team /option.

I think that’s an understatement. We never look like scoring when he’s on the pitch, and he regularly puts in 3/10 performances. OGS has a huge blind spot there.

I agree on Cavani and Telles. Both looking to be good buys.
