That's a huge banana skin avoided.

Dominated the second half, a great performance on the whole.

Since Salah joined us only 1 player has been involved in more goals.

Messi, and he only has 1 more.

That alone gets him the st he gets, we should count ourselves lucky he is playing for us, his goal involvement stats are ridiculous for a wide forward

I did fancy Salzburg to make it hard for us tonight but we gave it back in spades. Very impressive. The belief just seems to get stronger.

Good win tonight. If anything I didn't expect us to keep a clean sheet! I think that's one of the most impressive things about tonight!

A side note: this is a good insight between Rafa and Carragher about that night in Istanbul from MNF: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMKDSHl5PJg

Interesting watch, especially given how all Rafa's players have pretty much said how he kept himself remote from the players he managed. Interesting to hear his reason for replacing Dudek with Reina too (ie not just that he was a better keeper but that he was a talker and organiser).

And Messi plays in an easier league. It's incredible to think the best goalscorer in this country is a wide player then when you combine that with his assists it is astonishing.

There are very few players in the world that have the pace and abilty to score with their weaker foot like that.

Great result and another world class attacking display.

Will be interesting to see how the squad cope with an unprecedented 5 competitions over the coming weeks. At least we can't get a tougher route to the champions league final than last year.

Alisson Becker in Liverpool’s last four “must-win” UCL fixtures (Salzburg, Spurs, Barca, Napoli)

• Saved 23 of 23 shots
• 15 saves from shots inside the box
• 4 big chances saved

Hopefully Gomez gets a decent run out now if Lovren is injured. Would be good to see him and VvD rediscover the form prior to Gomez's injury.

I'm not sure what the urge for this is, Lovren is playing brilliantly atm, Klopp reckons same injury as the wknd, as much as I really rate Gomez you can't knock Lovren for what he is doing...

Next round will be either lyon, Dortmund, real, shakhtar or atlanta, and prob athletico

It is the long-term partnership, so would like to see Gomez get a nice run out of games. Matip and Lovren have both played well; but perhaps now an opportunity for Gomez to re-establish himself. Nice problem to have.

Indeed, the confidence is that high at the moment I think whoever walks in plays well...

These teams who have come 2nd will be dreading getting us

Lovren makes it hard to like him.
