I do think Woodward has to take some of the flak - but maybe his buying policy has been influenced too much by managers coming in and saying "I want...".

From listening to pundits talk, LFC's recruitment is generally held up as an example of getting it spot on. It's not just Klopp doing great things, it's FSG and everyone behind the scenes too.
I agree, of course he has some blame, ie the giving away of ludicrous contracts etc but there is more than 1 person to blame at UTD. Get a team behind Ole like we have behind Klopp and I am sure you would see a different outcome.
True, but the truth is, if Utd want to get back to their glory days they need both; a DoF/CEO who knows the football side AND a world class manager. At the moment they have neither.

Pretty much this .

Anyway this is a Liverpool thread ,so to save me the pain of doing it when it is scientifically confirmed .

Congratulations ,truly an amazing season even if you lose a few by the end ,outstanding consistency and what’s impressed me as much as anything is there is a completeness that city don’t have, you can play in different ways adapting to the requirements of the match .Raise the tempo when required ,defend well, play long balls ,counter attack ,whatever is required ,score from set pieces ,defend set pieces .
Tremendous mental strength ,something I think a lot of the top 4 or 5 lack.

(That hurt).

If that is the one he blazed over then a man in a team with minimal confidence + playing a team that's possibly playing the best football ever seen in the English game + he was being pressured into making a quick decision = no surprise to me.

It's a team effort...

According to this Mirror article LFC have been tracking Minamino since 2013

Exactly, that's what I was saying. There was something when he signed, on some video or other that said we'd been tracking him for years. Mad, really - I guess that goes on all the time and many just don't develop in the right way and stop getting watched.

I think it's being a bit harsh on Martial tbh, I've lost count of the number of times Mane and especially Salah have done this.

The difference is we create so many chances in a game, one of the two get more opportunities to put at least one away.

This.

We rightly bemoan our finishing at times, but the difference between us and the rest (bar City) is we create so many more chances.

I’ve never worried about our attack since Salah joined Bobby and Mane.... they’re always going to create.

I'm most definitely not knocking him....the pressure on him must be unreal. As you say, Mane et al miss relatively routinely but with the amount of chances per game it doesn't matter - not wumming here but that sole chance was what could have been their biggest moment of the season. Tough on a young lad.

Salah’s miss was twice as bad as Martial’s but as above he had two good chances and scored the other

Apparently we could conceivably clinch the title at Goodison in mid-March or at Etihad in early April...

Gonna be honest and say id rather it was a home game when we win, just want to see thousands rush the pitch at final whistle, itll be amazing.

To be fair, he is quite a down to earth guy, especially given his age. He has been in the spolight since he was 18, had money literally thrown at him since and seems to have kept a level head and played excellent football. He is superstar and I don't think he is even being arrogant by calling himself that.
