Milner.
Jokes aside, I was also surprised he was chosen over Matip. I'd be happy with him being 4th choice, if there is actually such a thing.
Is it just rotation? Play 1st and 4th choice today, then play 2nd & 3rd to give VVD a break when next possible. Keeps everyone involved but keeps it fresh for your bigger challenges ahead. Worth risking in the Prem in your position. Jokes aside, I was also surprised he was chosen over Matip. I'd be happy with him being 4th choice, if there is actually such a thing.

Name me a better 4th choice centre back in the league though.
Why our 3rd choice centre back was on the bench I'm not quite sure.
Guessing Matip hasn't done so well in training? Or Klopp thought Lovren a better bet against Deeney? Not that that seemed to make a difference - not sure how Gomez or Matip would do against Deeney but they wouldn't be wrestling with him.Why our 3rd choice centre back was on the bench I'm not quite sure.

Lovren will probably get another chance against Everton as VVD needs a rest.

Just a thought on Lovren. Gomez got back into the team and was gradually less awful over several games - far more "off the pace" in his first game back than Lovren has been. Didn't cost us because the team was playing well. Lovren hasn't played in God knows how long, makes a mistake and gets crucified for it "because its Lovren".
Some players are just untouchable; some are scapegoats.
Fair, Gomez was asleep for WHUs second IIRCSome players are just untouchable; some are scapegoats.
Tonight reminded me a bit of growing up watching them in the 70s/80s. I remember we had some long run of home games without defeat and then finally lost it to Brighton, who were bottom of the table. These things happen. In the overall scheme of things it matters far more to Watford, and I hope they stay up on the back of that.
I have got rather sick of the players coming out with the humble "we focus on the next game and always seek to improve" while playing steadily worse over recent weeks. Perhaps this will give them the kick up the 'arris, (as someone said above) they actually do need.

Meh that's a bit harsh tbhI have got rather sick of the players coming out with the humble "we focus on the next game and always seek to improve" while playing steadily worse over recent weeks. Perhaps this will give them the kick up the 'arris, (as someone said above) they actually do need.
If you have a task (whatever) over say 38 weeks(ish) and you've all but done it focus is bound to wain

So, Chelsea in the FA Cup and Atletico in the CL coming up. Do or die for the treble!
Just settle for your long awaited league title to be fair... now is not the time to get greedy...lick your wounds & congratulate the Hornets for climbing up a rung of the relegation ladder. jules_s said:

Of course - but at the same time, that is surely when you need a wake up call. You don't just say "oh its ok not to be so bothered, it was bound to happen".If you have a task (whatever) over say 38 weeks(ish) and you've all but done it focus is bound to wain
