It is the long-term partnership, so would like to see Gomez get a nice run out of games. Matip and Lovren have both played well; but perhaps now an opportunity for Gomez to re-establish himself. Nice problem to have.
Indeed, the confidence is that high at the moment I think whoever walks in plays well... These teams who have come 2nd will be dreading getting us
Gomez played well at RB and then CB on Saturday, but I'm not sure how good a CB partnership of Lovren and Gomez would be if VVD was out of the lineup.

Hopefully Gomez gets a decent run out now if Lovren is injured. Would be good to see him and VvD rediscover the form prior to Gomez's injury.
I'm not sure what the urge for this is, Lovren is playing brilliantly atm, Klopp reckons same injury as the wknd, as much as I really rate Gomez you can't knock Lovren for what he is doing... Next round will be either lyon, Dortmund, real, shakhtar or atlanta, and prob athletico
Not what he has done in the past or what he's said.
Also , he's Mo's best mate so we have to keep him around anyway.

Naby Keita this week:
2 Starts
2 Goals
1 Assist
2 Clean Sheets
2 MOTM awards
He seems to work very well with Hendo to, big end of the year for him...
Great to have depth in midfield, he really adds something different and allows us to cover the loss of Fab pretty well. Nice to see Keita getting a run. 2 Starts

Good result in the end last night. But it would be nice to be more clinical and make things easier on ourselves sometimes.
Those odds on Salzburg in the Europa look good. Seeing the way Arsenal are playing at the moment how are they joint favourites?
A very good result in the end against a tricky opponent, i for one am a little relieved. Salah remains an enigma this season, brilliant one minute, poor the next but as long as there is enough of the former I can ignore the latter. Those odds on Salzburg in the Europa look good. Really encouraging to see how Lallana Shaq and most importantly Keita have come through the last month

Let's not forget played with an injury for 7 games, his poorer ones most are basing their opinion on... Really encouraging to see how Lallana Shaq and most importantly Keita have come through the last month

Salah remains an enigma this season,
Considering he has been playing with an injury since Leicester to last week he is now our joint top scorer and our leading Goal involvements (Goals/assits) (prem/champs leage)11 goals in 19 Games
6 Assits in 19 Games
17 Goal involvements in 19 Games
Mane
11 Goals in 21 games
5 Assists in 21 Games
16 Goal involvements in 21 games
I think people are far to quick to jump on Salah - The best strikers in history have sometimes been no existent for 89mins then pop up and score the winner - he is there to score and assists and open the game up for others and its exactly what he is doing. We are lucky to have him in our team and if he was put on the transfer list every club in the world would try to buy him.
Playing with a injury and still affecting games is testament to him as a player, many would have just sat out and waited till they were 100% fit (think Sturridge)
I am going to enjoy Keita changing peoples opinions over the coming months to, we are seeing now what we saw when he 1st came in and played for us, he was full of confidence and effecting games, the injuries and loss of place have obviously massively effected him but you can see now what he is about, his ability to get the ball skip past a defender and open the game up is something we dont have (Ox is similar but more direct at getting past the defenders) Keita is also unbelievable at winning possession back for us, one of the reasons Klopp signed him.
Absolutely loving this season again

Lovren makes it hard to like him.
Why? Given his back story I find him quite inspiring. Intelligent bloke, too.Prone to brain farts on the pitch
See above off the pitch.
That's not to say he isn't a decent player, it's just that he's playing in an amazing team next to the best CB in the world so small flaws are highlighted.

Last night I genuinely thought we'd slip up. It was great to see the team step up again and again.
First half reminded me of the early days under Klopp when we played heavy metal football and left ourselves so open at the back and were crying out for a defensive midfield general. Sofa hiding and feeding the cat has thankfully been consigned largely to history. We won't come up against a hungry, feisty and quick team like Salzburg every week, thankfully.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
