ste living in my head rent free atm.
I can see big Jurgen getting the boot if they don't qualify for CL. If they finish 6 that will equal Blackburn's historic title defence. Let's hope we can use that game in hand against Villa to leapfrog them. It's literally all we have now
Anyone else going to listen into Carlo's lecture on leadership at Liverpool uni this week?

That's very true! Every single time we look like we might do ok, we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
On the finance side of things, we're not in great shape wages v turnover....
You’re right of course, but the difference is that we are not geared up for the CL and have the external resources, in the form of Moshiri and Usmanov to ride out the storm. Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool derive their wealth from football, Chelsea and City don’t. Bielsa was quoted this week as saying that the rich clubs get richer at the expense of the poor and then demand more privileges, I think he’s right. I honestly think it's an impossible task without a sugardaddy, we've been doing pretty well for 5/6 years now, and we're still behind WHU and Everton in terms of revenue, although if we get CL football that should probably take us just ahead of you both.

Spot on. The revenue of the big 6 is miles ahead of the rest, even Arsenal generate more than double what WHU, Everton and Leicester do. If you have to stick to FFP, how do you bridge that gap, the only thing you can do is keep winning and selling stars, but it's almost impossible to do it year on year. You probably need a decade of constantly being in and around the top 6 and winning things to vastly improve your revenue, expanding the stadium and selling a few more shirts pales into insignificance in comparison.

The problem under the existing model is sustaining your position, look what happened to Leeds when they tried to compete. Income from match going fans is now a very small part of the overall revenue stream for all top clubs, which surely means that it’s time to reverse the punitive rule that allowed clubs to retain all of their match day takings. Leeds overspent and borrowed to overspend.
It’s simple, live within your means and be shrewd with your signings and wages.
And who in 30 years has managed to do that whilst challenging the big 4? Only reason Chelsea and Man City are up there is because of sugardaddies. As soon as a team gets a star player, the big boys come along and treble his wages. It’s simple, live within your means and be shrewd with your signings and wages.

Not necessarily true, there are always home grown players who stick with their clubs.
The problem is owners who aren’t ambitious or who are happy to just get top 6; such as a Bill Kenwright when he was the majority owner of Everton.
Further down the ambition league table, you have had plenty of premier league club owners simply happy to survive such as Bolton, Bournemouth, Fulham, Wigan, Blackburn, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, etc
If you don’t keep progressing your club and your happy to just make up the numbers, eventually you go backwards and your better players will catch on to the lack of ambition and move on.
