Would appreciate some advice if possible. My wife has a small but successful business teaching toddler dance classes. We have a website and Facebook page. All is well. Apart from the Facebook advertising/ boost post thing which seems to be disabled.

I’m usually pretty good with I.T type stuff but in this instance am pulling what little there is left of my hair out!

I have done the usual thing of stabbing away at every button and googling for info on Fb advertising/ boosts etc. Have tried to find a live chat/ message Fb for advice but it’s getting me nowhere.

It looks like her account has boosts disabled for some reason. Mentions not adhering to Fb guidelines, but no mention of how to resolve this. I tried to message them but it seems to say that as we do not have an ad account we can’t submit a help request. I tried to make an ad account in business manager. But it wouldn’t let me create a business manager account as the login is “grey” what? The whole thing seems pretty broken to me and I’ve run out of buttons to stab.

Anyone had anything similar? Can point me in a better direction? I’m really at the end of my tether with this. If I click on create advert I get a blank page which lets me select nothing? If I follow pretty much any of the help links. Or ad manager it just takes me back to her Facebook page.

Please help, I’m gonna cry!

Are you blocking cookies and ads in your browser? Try in an incognito window.

It’s possible yes. I do have an ad blocker. Will try your suggestion. Thanks.

I'd love to know what she did to break the rules. I've occasionally had ads unboosted due to rule breaches but nothing close to being prevented from running ads!

Yeah no idea. She can’t even remember which post she boosted as it was so long ago. There’s no info I can find as to what rules were breached. From what I can gather these things are often done by a bit with no actual logic behind the decision. The fact that we can’t get in contact with Fb is the biggest issue to resolving this I think.

Do we actually need a business manager account? I can’t tell if this is necessary for a one man band with no links to any other businesses?

The cookies/ ad blocker thing didn’t help. It’s bizarre. It really shouldn’t be this hard.

Yep can get to that page ok. I recognise it very well! Been there a few times! If I try to create a business manager account it says we need to login with her Fb email and password. But I can’t find a login page. If I click on any link to ads manager I can find it just takes me to her Fb page.

Just had a look at the Fb app on her phone. There is a button for ad account I think it was in the settings. Click that and it says unable to load ad account. May have found out some more info from her as to maybe why this has happened.

She says she does remember creating an ad using that memories photo montage thing from her iPhone. It was muted due to having music on it. Seems she may have sent a snotty note stating that she has a prs licence and to unmute! I fear this may have triggered her account being disabled.

If that is the case then it seems we are pretty stuffed unless we restart everything a new. And even that sounds dodgy!

Blimey.

Out of interest, could someone have reported your wife's account for spamming?

That did occur to me also having read that website. Not sure if she would know how to spam. Maybe complaints about something else? I can pretty much guarantee she wouldn’t put anything offensive etc on there though. Perhaps a rival? Who knew toddler dancing could be so cutthroat! I guess right now the only way to know is to somehow contact Fb themselves but that seems to be impossible.

Speaking to the wife just now. She reckons she added about £5 of funding. For 1 ad. Never done anymore before or since. Apparently the ad with music wasn’t an ad. It was just a post. So I’m pretty confused tbh. Like I say. I think the only way to resolve is to speak to Fb. I just can’t find a way to do so. They don’t seem to have a live chat route anymore. No uk phone support numbers I can find. Report a problem seems to be ignored. It even says on the report a problem page they will not respond to all reports. So wtf is the point of having a button! Aaaahhh!

Ha ha that’s going to send me over the edge. Doesn’t matter what I type. It just replies with a link to the Fb business help page referenced earlier!

Facebook is absolutely murder for help. The only time they help is when the Ireland lot phone to try to 'improve' your ad campaign (by spending more). I don't use it much at all these days.

Boosting is a waste of time btw. Run proper ads.

This is what I’m discovering. Christ knows how they can be so successful when their support system is basically non existent! Honestly this is driving me mad. I think I need to give up.

When you say stick to proper ads. You mean on Fb? Or elsewhere? We are pretty new to all this. And it’s a very small business. We don’t have a marketing budget as such.

Ah! I have an ad account and they (a human, not chatbot) always replies quickly and resolves the issue, so perhaps if you don't have the ad account yet it's a no go.

Well I did that on my phone. Not as the mrs. Have you tried it recently? Can you try it now and tell them to speak to me?
