My trusty 2010 Mac Mini seems to be running out of puff for this.
Even when I have downloaded a program - the fan goes on overdrive and there is a lot of stutter.

So... a replacement is needed.

I need small factor form - SSD.

Suggestions please.

Thank you in advance.

If it is literally just for Sky Go, thought about just getting a cheap Android Tablet?

Or pick up a dell refurb. Something with an i5.

Tablet won't cast to telly.

And Dell outlet doesn't seem to have small form factor. ( eg mac mini size )

You can’t cast Sky Go. The only way to connect to a tv for Sky Go is via hdmi from a laptop IIRC.

Correct
Which is why I am asking for a very small form factor box to do so to replace my very old Mac Mini
I could spend £1000 on a new Mac Mini - but I am sure other options are out thee.

If it is the mid-2010 Mac mini why don't you upgrade the internals. It was the 2014 that had solder ram etc.

I have a Samsung R530 lappy which runs Sky Go into the TV via HDMI and wirelessly connected to the router.

I also watch SKY Go on a Nexus 9 Tablet, connected to the same network. The Nexus has infinitely better reception than the laptop and so I watch on a 9 inch screen instead of a 32 inch screen.

My 2012 Mac Mini runs ok, I upgraded to 16GB of RAM and I have an SSD waiting to go in, but even on the original traditional HDD it is fine. The RAM was pretty cheap to upgrade. Could this be an option?

Or maybe a used newer Mac Mini if you don't want to splash out for a new one.

Or these might be a cheaper option:

No it's an app you need to install. Not at all like Netflix/Amazon Prime. You'll need Windows or Mac OS, don't think they support Linux, although I believe there can be hacks to get it working, but often difficult and variable success.

No SkyGo is no longer a simple browser plugin like Netflis, it is a shcensoredtty app. On the Mac it incorrectly identifies WD Hard drive software as some sort of piiracy software and refuses to run with a completely useless error code.... It took me a lot of effort to work out why - the forums were no help and sky's customer support were completly useless.

Yes and on the PS4.

I have used one for years but have no video games, much to my adult sons amusement.

well that's stty, id probably get a cheap windows 10 tablet/laptop with a hdmi out then. I bought a cheap Lenovo (120s)windows laptop with a hdmi out for £100 a year or so back for just this kinda stuff, prices seem to have shot up now though.
Ive also got a windows tablet that would be capable too as it has hdmi out.

You can also find android tablets with hdmi out, but windows is easier.

I have so many random devices knocking around the house...

Proabably worth having a look at the amazon best sellers and read a few reviews, you can sometimes find a gem.

I'm a master of finding cheap gadgets, I was using a £90 android phone which for the money was absolutely astounding. I'm currently using a sub £300 flagship beater.

Thread bump. Has anyone found a good solution for this?

Just want something small to attach via HDMI to the tv for sky go and watching Facebook live streams. Xbox is out of the running because Sky want an extra £5 a month for SkyGo to work on the Xbox for reasons I don’t understand.

I have seen stick PCs but I have a feeling they aren’t very good and SkyGo strikes me as a lazy app that’s not particularly efficient and therefore needs a half decent machine to run it?
