Ticket ballot is open for the Carabao Cup Final. Allocation is 2000. Tickets are £40 and £50, over 18's only. The event is part of the UK Government’s Events Research Programme (ERP). All attendees must take a lateral flow Covid 19 test 24 before the match and proof of a negative result is needed to gain access to the stadium. All attendees are requested to undertake a PCR Covid 19 Home test prior to the event and 5 days after the event, to aid the research. Do not apply for the ballot if you are clinically extremely vulnerable, living with someone who is clinically extremely vulnerable or pregnant.

Sod that.

So you've gotta take a test that they'll send you before and after the game? Hardly out of this world to get to go to a game surely?

Thats just a total bks thing to say, the best teams are getting really ones that spend the most. There’s the odd exception but Spurs are not big spenders. We sold Walker, never rebuilt. Same with Eriksen. And as well you know spending a fortune wins you things, in your lots case a one year thing it has to be said rofl
Agree you can’t just look at 1 or 2 years of spending and suddenly become a big spender, you spent a fair whack but only after many years of almost no spend, only way to judge the level of player investment is at least a 5 year net spend like:

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/fue...

Even then you have to add wages on top, but some surprising numbers in there!

Then I gets even more nuanced I guess, how much was paid to parasitic agents? How much was pumped into youth academies to negate the need for big transfer signings etc

I said over the past few years. Of course it matters what happens before that too, but it shows that Spurs have started spending a lot after the years of nothing due to the stadium. So the order for the last 5 years (which includes some of those non-spending years) is City, United, Arsenal (where the fk did that money get wasted?!? - now there are some fans who have a right to complain!), Chelsea, Everton, Villa, Wolves, Tottenham and so on. It's always said we spent big and bought success - yet we've just spent a bit over 50% of the money they have in the last 5 years. There's of course 140 million reasons for that, but it shows perception can outweigh reality.

Looks like Spurs may become a care home for ex Chelsea managers with a possible successor to Mourinho

Those are obviously not the numbers I was surprised at, I’d be annoyed if I was Everton’s owner though

It's interesting to compare the net spend v current league position. For example, City & United are 1&2 in net spend and current league position. So they have a 0 difference. Whereas Everton are 5th in net spend but currently 8th in the table, giving a value of -3. The teams at the bottom of the table have spent really badly!

Leicester City 11
Crystal Palace 6
Liverpool FC 6
Southampton FC 6
West Ham United 6
Leeds United 5
Burnley FC 2
Tottenham Hotspur 1
Manchester City 0
Manchester United 0
Chelsea FC -1
Newcastle United -1
West Bromwich Albion -2
Everton FC -3
Aston Villa -5
Wolverhampton Wanderers -5
Arsenal FC -6
Brighton & Hove Albion -6
Fulham FC -7
Sheffield United -7

Interesting

I guess teams like Brighton and Wolves could argue they spend a reasonable amount but 20-30m a season isn’t a lot when staying up makes them £100m, and Fulham, WBA and Sheff Utd would argue spending the same to survive is worth the risk for the £100m reward.

Leicester seem to buy very well

I think that the bottom clubs can't attract the really good players do they end up buying a lot of not quite good enough players but still with paying a Prem premium.

I think that Leicester just sell very well. Kante, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Chillwell etc. None have really justified their prices yet.

Hmm
Kante was best DM in the league for a number of years
Chilwell looks very good
Mahrez would walk into first 11 of most teams except City and he plays there a lot, I’d love him at Liverpool

You missed 85m for Maguire though hehe

I thought that 85m for Maguire was just a myth....

I said this the other day but rather than have a conversation about it TECKNOPUG just used a laughing emoji. West Ham are above them in that table too which was also laughed at. In denial at how fked Spurs are.

West Ham's average league finish in the last 5 years (including this current season, with it's extraordinary circumstances) is 11th. Leicester is 8th. Whereas Spurs' is 4th over the same period.

So yes, I laugh at you.
